After a successful 2 weeks in northern France last summer swmbo has stuck a pin in map and we're heading to Nantes !
Could any funsters advise me of any nice villages sights etc on way down, any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers Keith.

Nantes is a big city, which I've cycled across but can't say I know it well. There are some potentially interesting villages around it and we saw lots of MHs parked around the Nantes/Brest canal when we cycled up it.

In the same area La Rochelle looked more interesting. The picture below shows me retaking it armed with only a baguette - it used to belong to the English but I'm not sure the locals noticed my re-conquest. :(

Nantes itself is a tad industrial ISTR. Birmingham stylee.

Coast around St Nazaire, and St N itself is lovely though. Also v interesting. Great aire and beaches at St Marc sur Mer, not far at all from where M. Hulot 'ad 'is 'oliday! Pornichet, La Baule, all sorts of nice places.

The tram stops outside the gate, direct into city centre. Entrance is a bit weird on a roundabout. We missed it first time

Agree, great site.We were lucky when there as we got tickets for the opera at Nantes theatre.Tram tickets are cheap(I think valid 24hours) and are valid for trip across the river to the old quarter!
