A decent big HYDRAULIC JACK and a decent wheel brace, now with a torque Wrench, so the nuts get done to 180Nm then the drums do not distort and cause Judder, which has plagued me for two years before I found out I was over tightening the wheel nuts. By researching on the Web to find a service bulletin that informed me why it happened on my TWIN WHEELED TRANSIT I actually cured it, without buying new hubs.at £290 each.

Duck tape and WD40.

If it doesn't move and it should I use WD40.

If it does move and it shouldn't I use Duck tape.
Ahh! the best useful stuff available Duct tape, it can fix loads of things temporarily, it can't cure stupid, though, but it does shut it up for a time. I always keep a roll on board in case it can hold bumpers , lights in roof repairs abroad using a sheet material. I would not want to be without some.

An interesting thought..
Are not ALL tools just as indispensable ?

If you are a person who is a bit handy, and does his or her own repairs ( either if not major then all the minor ones ) then the premise is good !
Nothing worse than starting a job only to find you aint got the tools to complete it

Most folk who use tools will know that in general, multi-tools and adjustable spanners are only useful as a very last option.
They are just never as good as the proper tool for a job

If I am doing a job and do not have the tool I need, then it gets added to the tool kit ..

I have in the van ( in no particular order.. just as I think of them ):
Decent set of screw drivers
Decent 3/8th drive socket set ( 8mm to 21mm )
Semi decent set of metric spanner ( but only going up to 17mm )
A second very small set of thin spanners for working on small stuff ( from 6BA to 0BA )
Various type of pliers
Three types of wire cutters
Two types of circlip pliers
One small one medium pair of Mole grips
An adjustable spanner
Various files for wood and metal
3 x sets of drills from 1mm up to 10 mm all with different purposes
Decent battery drill
Decent set of alan keys
Decent set of torx keys
Set square
One gas soldering iron
One mains soldering iron
Solder
Various electrically related widgets such as fuses, connectors etc etc )
A claw hammer
Small tyre levers ( and of course puncture repair kit ! )
Two multi meters
A 'quick tester'
Small hacksaw
Wood saw
Various glues
Various tapes
Tape measure
Decent digital tyre pressure gauge
Cable ties and of course gaffer tape :)

And probably a lot of other odds and sods I cannot remember at the moment LOL !

All of these are in a largish briefcase type tool case all neatly laid out so no rummaging around

Mind you.. At a guess I would say it weighs around 20 kilos !!!!!!!!!!!

In my tool box I have a lot of what Jaws has but not quite so many! I don't take an actual drill/drill bits, soldering irons or massive collection of spanners!

In my early mechanicing days, it was always said that the only proper use for an adjustable spanner was as a hammer and then only as a tool to beat the person caught using it.

However, I quickly discovered that it was worth spending money on the best adjustable spanner I could afford. When the broken down bit of kit was at the far end of a 40 acre field & you could only get to the top end with the van, you quickly learned to be very selective in the tools you were going to carry all the way across a wet & muddy ploughed field.

A hammer, decent screwdriver, 1/2" open-ended/ring combo (fits 50% of all nuts on M-F kit, or did back then) and an adjustable spanner were always the starting point. Plus a can of what we always knew by a very rude name, but I can't now remember the proper name for. It was a highly effective releasing agent in a can, rather than an arenosol - far, far more effective than WD40.
