We are parked up at Dallachulish Farm, Barcaldine. over looking the Loch Crearan. The sun is shinning, but we have had rain for about the last hour. The low clouds on top of the mountains is just beginning to clear. (11.10am). Hope to head towards Mallaig tomorrow.(y)

I have been caravanning for 32 years but in 2014 I have"gone over to the dark side"
which proves the saying..

when yea canny see the mountains.. it's rainin'

when it's sunny ... rain is on the way..

I live in Lee on the Solent facing the Isle of Wight and we have a similar saying

If you can see the Isle of Wight it's going to rain - if you can't see it - it's already raining!!

Hi Carol. I think we may already seen you. We were in Glen Brittle 2 nights ago. We have called in at Sligachen but didn't stay there. We have spent most of our nights at the site at Portree. Fairy Pools were on our list for today but the snow in Portree this morning put us off walking. We will be on Skye for a few more days before we head off for Harris so may meet up yet.

We aborted our trip to Skye this week and at present over on the east coast at Dornoch. Heading to the top tomorrow for the weekend. We will then make our way back over to the west side if the winds die down. Do not mind the snow, just not the rough sea. Travel safe everybody, may see you if your still on the islands.

For anyone looking for TV and/or mobile coverage on Skye. The stretch of coast road on the Trotternish peninsular from about 3 miles north of Uig to the top of the peninsular has excellent 3G coverage for 3 mobile and nearly a full complement of UK terrestrial TV channels. 3 mobile internet also works at Broadford and Sligachen, but TV dodgy in both locations with our set up. Some TV channels work on the campsite at Portree but no 3 mobile signal. We've never had anything better than a G connection on our O2 mobiles anywhere on the island and can only be used for calls and texts. There is no reception on anything at Glen Brittle, Edinbane or Dunvegan unless you've got satellite. Plenty of places to wild camp all over the island. We're alternating between wild camping and campsites.
