To weld or not to weld that is the question.
I have a crack in my exaus system.
Nothing to serious but old stell is notoriously difficult to weld.
Am I being a tight git should I just splash out on a new one at £193

with a mig welder it should be ok.
i would certainly have a go.
might put a bit of extra support on it or patch as well.
i made new ends for my silencer 3 years ago still working .

Once exhausts start going normally faulse economy to repair them. If you repair it another part of it is bound to let you down at the most inconvient time.

It's just a crack next to a weld stress crak by the looks of it

If there is no corrosion / rot & only a stress crack shouldn't be a problem, go for it.

slip a bit of tube over it and strengthen it . a bit of ex pipe cut then slipped over and welded should be ideal.
i certainly dont just swap mine when 20mins of welding will fix it .
i use mig at home but do take inverter welder away in the truck .
inverter better than normal stick but mig is better .
i cheap skated and bought a cheap inverter welder in spain several years ago . shame it never came with tig .
mind i did weld the leaf springs on my trailer with it one year in morocco. got me home .

Ive found patching boxes to be a waste of time as they rot from the inside as fast as you patch one place it goes in another pipes can be worth doing and cracks on flanges

just recover them . wrap a sheet of steel around the silencer, then make shaped end caps welding to new steel all the way . fit slightly over size end pipes so you can slip in the original . job done . cost almost nothing if you do it yourself .
sometimes i consider covering new silencers with galvanized steel from new .
mind truck silencers do take weld repairs much better than car a van silencers . heavier steel used .
