looking forward to reading wherever you put it (y)

Now really looking forward to it. It's taken a long time to arrive because of our cancelled trip which was to have been to Nepal. Would like to know where your friends are going, although it will be too late to know their thoughts before we leave.

I think that looks much more appetising than that sheep's head your so-called Danish friends served up for you. :)

OK you think it's appetising I'll think of something to serve up for you next time we meet!

BTW when are you in France this summer after the Tour?

BTW2. I didn't eat the sheep's head whole!

I think you will find I said more appetising, and it comes with potatoes (y) . You always cook such lovely food, never unappetising, always delicious.

In France before and during TDF heading back early August.

My DIL did her medical elective at the hospital in Cusco. While there she trekked to Macchu Picchu, got a bit of altitude sickness. She couldn't bring herself to eat a whole guinea pig but she did try guinea pig nuggets!

We're flying Madrid, Bogota, Lima, Cusco.

We have some Diamox to take for the altitude. Bought over the counter in Spain for 2 euros a box!

Really looking forward to the trip.

We'd be interested to read about your trip.

The boy's off there for a month in July on an expedition thing - 3 weeks working on community projects and 1 week trekking Macchu Picchu.

Just take your time in Cusco. It's hard. Short steps. Machu P is worth the trip. Long train ride

Hi,
You'll love it. Machu Pichu is fantastic though the village down the hill where you will probably stay (Aguas Calientes) is a bit ramshackle to say the least. I think Cusco is higher than Machu Pichu so earlier advice on the thread is good. Our hotel in Cusco had breathing equipment in the corridors!

Cheers
Chris

Thanks for all the replies.

We are going on an organised trek. We spend two days in Cusco before starting the trek. We then go to Ollantaytambo to visit the ruins there, have a short walk and a night in a hotel.

We then start our trek. We will have six nights camping, the last three of which are on the Inca Trail. We arrive in Macchu Picchu and drop down to Aguas Calientes then go back up to spend the next day exploring Macchu Picchu with a guide. We then go by train back to Cusco and have another day there before the trip ends.

I don't expect to have internet on the trek  but should be able to post from the towns.
