 We are here, in France and it's almost surreal! After weeks of planning, worrying and generally faffing, we are doing it!!! Driving on the right, using Aires and loving it!! It's so easy, just like we were told. Thank you to all the Funsters who have given us the benefit of your wisdom. So far we have used Wissant and today we are at Berck Sur Mer and planning on moving on to the Normandy beaches. Will post pics soon.:Grin:

You can't beat it - so many nice places to visit, great aires and the roads are almost free of traffic compared to here.
Go to Honfleur on the way. Lovely little port, huge aire with electricity.(y)

keep the updates coming, let us know where you are, how good or bad the aires are. any issues with access, getting water etc

we were where you are now only 2 years ago, but still only at the bottom of the learning curve, but really lurving the experience :)

we love the French aire system, we love driving in France, only thing spoiling it for us is the M25

we also really like Scotland (y) no aires, but no M25 :LOL:(y)

Sorry to hear your wife is poorly, hope she gets better and you can have your trip to France. New van is doing very well, particularly pleased with automatic gearbox. I just have to think about the road ahead! Have got your list of Aires, thanks for that it is coming in very handy.

We were so worried about doing the aires in france and other places but wer have never looked back and use them almost exclusively now. And the driving is so much better there!
Why were we so worried? Stories made up by other people that's why. You have to discover these things yourself to know.
