Hi, just back from our 3rd short trip. We had to drive onto the pitch as the door is on the drivers side. The pitch was fully serviced but the grey waste was too far away to use as our waste empties behind the rear off side wheel! Any tips for next time would be much appreciated.

Thank you

'Had to drive onto the pitch' Were you told you had to? We have a continental van and decide ourselves which way round we want to face. The club's generally have the rule that a corner of the motorhome/caravan must be near the post, but we've never being 'advised' to face one way or another. Don't forget your the customer, if you don't like it ask for another pitch.
After years of caravanning/motorhoming the Caravan Club, in particular is getting on my wick with all it's rules.
Much more civilised abroad.

We bought a length of flexible grey waste tubing to reach from the outlet to the drain.

Well it's not just the caravan club. The others seem to be jumping on the same bandwagon!

My Frankia has a flexible hose which reaches all the extremities of the van and then some, could you not attach a flexible hose to your outlet?

Yes told to drive on which was a pain as the bed ended up against the road.

Sounds like I'll need s very long flexible pipe then! As the discharge is behind the rear wheel it will need to be the length of the van (7.5m) plus some - sounds like a lot of pipe to carry. Thanks for the replies

On and off for many years.
Our van tends to sit "nose down" so we make best use of any slope on a site. We too have expansion pipes for grey waste :)

Alternatively use a bucket - which is a pain.

We were at a site last week where they had concrete pitches with gravel side areas for awnings etc. Each van had to drive or back on dependant that the habitation door was on awning side of pitch. Not a big issue except every pitch had the awning side on the shaded side (N facing). This was a private site near Hereford, not CC or C&CC.

I would have refused.

Would they tell a continental caravan to go on towbar first?

It's a fair point - well made! The bucket idea isn't a bad quick solution. Think I'll get a waste master for the times we're not on a fully serviced pitch though.

Yes have a waste tank but it's full after 3 days. Just trying to make sense of this issue. Last site pulled up the manhole which was easy enough but this one only had waste disposal on the pitches. I suppose it's not an issue if you're planning to move around, more of an issue if you want to stay put for longer.

In my experience of caravan club sites they tell you to drive on in relation to the marker. I have queried this and they have then all said drive or back on, it's where you are to the marker that's important. I think that it is just a sloppy way of explaining it.

anyway as long as the safety rules are followed I would do as I please what would they do about it?

Just out of badness I would have pulled on forwards.....with the trailer blocking the access road.

Then see the warden squirm out of that.
I did say wow you must have some big pitches the she walked off and warden came laughing to him self

We park whichever way suits us as long as you don't interfere with other pitches. Wouldn't stay if told which way to park.If you come down here to Caceres they are parked sideways and any way they can or want to.

Caceres sounds good to me! Once we've got a bit more confidence we'll be there.
