Comfort were half the price of my current policy but I just checked and they only go up to £3k for windscreens. Travel world recon £5k to replace my exsis screen.

Any other option for companies who could cover the screen.

Travel world are taking the Michael, Exsis screen should be well below the £3000 limit Comfort have, I'm not certain but I think the cost of an EXsis screen is around £1250 plus fitting.
If it was 5k insurance would still cover it but it would be a standard claim rather than a windscreen claim.

If you are really worried NUF do unlimited screen cover.

Saga do not have any limit stated in their policy. Mine had to be changed last year and the fitters told me the cost was well in excess of £3k.

Not if its an older A class it isnt.

I would expect between £3k and £5k

11yrs, but many years a tugger.
Using the NFU they paid £5500 to replace my cracked screen. I had to pay the usual £50. It took about a week for the screen to come from the USA and about a month waiting for the weather to improve. In the end, they arranged for it to be taken to our local coach station to get it into the dry. We were kept informed throughout what was going on. Excellent. :)

just an update to close this. nick at brownhills (extremely helpful chap) contacted Hymer and a new screen for the Exsis is £1550....

phoned autoglass and they were the complete opposite asking why i needed this information and why my insurer did not know the value of the screen!

Hello,

Included in the many companies we use for motorhome insurance is a company called Markerstudy.. They offer completely unlimited windscreen cover subject to a £90 excess for replacement.

Kind Regards

You might try this company, which had a stand at the Peterborough Show, and which offers free independent advice.

PSV Glass, Richard Green, 01495 285531, www.psvglass.co.uk

I know nothing about them except by chatting at the show, but they did say that they could deal directly with insurers.

EDIT: the .co.uk address above does not seem to work but www.psvglass.com does. Hope their glass fitting is more accurate than their publicity material:rolleyes:

We use Safeguard (unlimited) as we have been told it's £5,500 to replace ours - we did ask Niesmann's in Germany and they would charge €3,600, the difference is of course the shipping and the windscreen replacement company's hefty margin.

If getting a quote from Safeguard, please haggle as ours dropped about £150.00 when we did.

Hi, yes unlimited Windscreen cover is a feature of some but not all Motorhome Policies, 2Gether Insurance on most of it's products have Unlimited Windscreen cover, we feel this is very important for Motor Home Policies given the cost of the replacement glass. Also something to consider is if the policy is All Glass or Just Windscreen, 2Gether use a panel so we can tailor to your requirements.
