I'm hoping the experts on here can soon solve this one.
When I test the 12N socket with a meter everything is fine, as soon as I plug any trailer board into it the right turn indicator stops working. It happily carries on bleeping just nothing at the bulb end.
I've checked the earth and that is fine. Everything else works. I'm hoping someone will have an idea before I take the van in and get them to replace the lot. :(

Have you plugged a 2nd trailer into the socket to see which part has the fault?

Assume you have done the obvious and tested for power at bulb.?? If no powers would suggest poor (corroded) connection in either plug or socket .as meter will read as ok till you put a load on . . .Roy

unfortunately yes, a total of 4 now so it's definitely the van end. Just had the habitation service and they couldn't find it either without spending a lot of time and at £60 an hour thought it would be cheaper to replace it.

As post no3, high resistance connection will give reading on meter but not enough power to light bulb. Suggest you put bulb on 2 lengths of wire, one to earth and use other to prove circuit, bulb will light if circuit OK and indicator is on!, if it is old school wiring work back from socket towards the indicator on vehicle until bulb does light, checking at every junction. Is the beeper at rear of vehicle? If so likely indicator wiring will go via that en route to pick up vehicle indicator wiring.

I've no idea, it's a 2004 Rapido 985F
Thats enough to know, your system is a conventional system so much easier to fix

Aandral has just posted your answer

Good luck

Thanks everyone, I'm away for 2 weeks, including Peterborough, so if you see 2 feet sticking out from under a Rapido you'll know who it is. :D

Well it finally dried up enough for me to spend some time under the van. It turned out to be the audible warning device, I've bypassed for now on my RT indicator, deciding I'd rather have the flashing light than the buzzer I can't hear. (y)
