We are taking the van to France for the first time early next week and I want to order one book from Amazon that covers both Aires and sites. Which would you recommend?

All the aires is a must ,as for campsites there are many good guides with just as many peoples preferences..you will get loads of info from very knowledgeable people on this forum ..

'Le Guide Officiel Aire de Services Camping-Car', its got a lot more aires in than the Vicarious Books 'All the Aires France' one and isn't difficult to use - we usually pick a copy up from one of the large supermarkets when we get there although you can order it from Amazon (France) for €15.72 delivered to the UK:

We find All the Aires France from Vicarious Books very good. Probably worth the outlay if you intend to visit France regularly, and who doesn't?

You mention buying from Amazon, bear in mind the most up to date All the Aires they have is 2008 and they still want £21 for it! Best to buy direct from Vicarious. Camperstop 2016 would also be a good buy.

Have a great trip.

Thanks everyone, the. eBay books won't arrive until after we leave so I have ordered one from Amazon France. Is camper contact for I pad or I phone ? And will it work off line.

There is a campercontact version for Apple devices. Look in the app store for something like all motorhome parking or perhaps NKC as these are you can find it on android. Alternatively, there may be a link on Link Removed
And yes it does work off line if you download the maps but it is better used online.

If not too late try and get the ACSI card and books as they will help find sites and save money. However a lot of sites won't be open yet. You may be able to buy a copy from a campsite but it will probably be in French. Try Vicarious too for ACSI they can deliver quickly.

It's on the App Store.

Search "Camper Contact" and it's the first one in the list of results called "All Motorhome Parkings"

Upgrade it to the paid for full version to get access to the full database. It's only a fiver so won't break the bank.

Make sure you download the country map e.g. France *before* you leave home while you've got reliable wifi.

Not really, there are always some changes even when the current year book comes out as it is produced in advance so some will have closed, new ones opened and details may have changed, but coupled with the POIs which you can get, and ideally campercontact as others have mentioned, you won't go far wrong! We usually get a new one every 2-3 years.
