I'm just replacing the overflow pipe from our fresh water tank and SWMBO mentioned that it should have a non-return valve on the end of it to stop insects crawling up it.
Not something I would have thought of. Would this be normal?

Caravan since 1970, motorhome or RV since 1999 then back to a caravan in 2017.
If SWMBO is worried she could supply a piece of fine mesh that you could fix 'tight' with a cable tie!

Should be simple enough to make a u-bend so water would be trapped stopping bugs getting in.

the problem with that idea is the water in the trap would stagnate, a breeding ground for bacteria

in all my years I have yet to see insects getting into a fresh tank via the overflow.. it's not worth worrying about

Living the dream.
Your Mrs is really overthinking this but I would put some gauze over the end of the pipe stop infestations and earache :LOL::LOL:

If you are really concerned, fit a carbon filter on the discharge line from the pump..

or on the cold line under sink , for drinking water only.. plenty of cheap ones around.

Thanks. I'm not really that concerned. Just paying lip service to SWMBO.
