Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
I am the lowest of the low in our family when it comes to today's technology.
I am low-tech man.
A USB socket is for me to plug in a memory stick in the side of my laptop or plug in my sat nav to update the maps.
As we have not yet bought our mh, and my car merely has a cigarette lighter socket, can you please tell me what you all use the USB sockets I keep reading about and seeing pics of in our modern motorhomes?
Thanks in advance.

Charge/use phones and Ipads and to connect Dash Cams. In some vehicles they are also used for updates to things such as built in Sat Nav or to carry and play music stored on USB stick

I recently bought a double one that Is 2.1a and 1.2a output but if I plug 2 phones in to charge the led light flashes on the plug and stops and starts charging the phones so I can only charge one at a time so what's the point of 2?
Edit. That's the one I bought techno but with just 2 outputs.

We have USB sockets in the main bedroom for overnight phone charging (who can sleep without a phone nearby) . We also have an ipad as an excellent bedroom tv and that plugs into a USB socket too.
We have another twin USB socket near the dining table for on the move charging for anyone in the back along with the swap of the two lighter sockets for usb sockets in the front as shown on the forum some time back.

The one I linked will do all three at once. Read the listing and photo illustration. There are imitations but mine works as long as you don't exceed its limit

I've found the ones that plug into cigarette lighter socket cause interference on the radio

So that is what is causing the noise on my radio.
THANK YOU

If it's the same as mine it's not that, it's everything! Brilliant reception but as soon as I start the engine it becomes rubbish instantly.

Like you, @Fenman , we are non-techies. Half the stuff in the replies above, I've never even heard of!

Thanks to everyone. I am learning all the time.
My better half has an iPad but I've only just got as far as a smart phone - and still don't understand much about it!!
I shall now investigate an iTouch. Never heard of one of those before.
Keep up the education please.
