I bought a cheap ebay plug in USB socket that goes into the cigarette lighter but it causes interference with the radio, very annoying.
Does anyone have an explanation of what I might look for to buy one that doesn`t cause this problem ?
Thanks,
Chris

No way to explain it without getting technical..
If you would like a technical answer no probes.. .. But a bit more info than most folk would be interested in ;)

Fit a proper wired USB socket. There are a few threads on here covering this.

But interference is a pain, my dash cam interfers with the radio - fortunately we don't listen to the radio much while driving. :)

As @DBK suggests I think I'll fit a wired one in place of cig lighter
Thanks all

One thing I would suggest..
I know it's not that easy, but pull the radio and unplug the aerial
Use a multimeter and check the aerial is actually earthed.
It is shocking the amount of motorhomes that have aerials fitted that seem to rely on the radio earth ..
That leaves a nice long bit of unbalanced coax to absorb any stray RF floating around !

On the off-chance that it's the cigar socket wiring that's radiating try putting both wires feeding the socket through a ferrite ring - twice. Cheap or not I doubt that any USB socket is suppressed - there isn't much room inside and they use a switched mode chip to drop the voltage that generates interference by its very nature.
