Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
So a huge number of motorhomes will be breaking the law. That list says a spare wheel is mandatory.:(

Not long enough, but a little common sense helps..........
Please guy's the article clearly states CAR. My MH went for ITV (MOT) last year and I was not asked about a spare wheel................ If it was required the Spanish made MH would have it as standard and guess what........ they don't. Enough said. A good read if you own / drive a car in Spain, but nothing to do with motorhomes.
Be aware that it is 1 x reflective vest per person in the vehicle, so that's at least 4 to be carried.

New rules apply about the spare wheel situation as so many cars now have no spares. N332 themselves have in the past posted the new rules.

They cannot enforce the "spare wheel" requirement if the vehicle does not come with one. As long as you have a way to repair the flat ( I know if the tyre is destroyed that hard! ) but ALL new cars that only have 4 wheels fitted and no spare come with the dreaded gunk and that is all the police if they check will want to see. I will ask local police over the weekend what they do?
So every car hire company in Spain that hire cars with no spare as that's how the car comes from factory is breaking the law!!!!! I think not

It is not that I disagree with ANY of the posts but, I posted this as it was posted by the N332 Themselves this morning (Saturday). I was more interested in the "No second pair of glasses" than anything else, although I will still carry them as to me it makes sense.

The 2 triangles I would have thought would make very good sense, the spare wheel would be a good idea as well (not that I would change it....the breakdown man would).

I sometimes think that if the police in Spain say you have to carry something, we have a line of posts saying, no you don`t, even if it just might be a very good idea, think about it, does it REALLY make any difference if it is for a car, or a MH, it a vehicle. And yes I know that lots of vehicles do not have spares these days but that (IMO) does not make it a good idea, that as usual is more for the vehicle manufactures benefit than the owner. I could, on my Rimor take the spare off....will I, NOPE!

Not just motorhome with no spare. The Smart car doesn't have one either and would actually need two as the wheels are not the same size. I always carry spare specs and spare prescription sunglasses too. Also hi vis for all occupants including the dogs

No one is asking you to quote "on my Rimor take the spare off....will I, NOPE!" all anyone is pointing out is (a) it's out of date (b) DOES not refer to a MH it is about a CAR (c) I and others above live in Spain and know ( NOTE: I did not say understand all the road rules ) and therefore be careful what you read and post as the N332 site has a habit of reposting old stuff. As I stated in my post I will ask local policeman over the weekend.
Out of interest I do carry a spare wheel in the MH, but that's only because I want too NO other reason. As for my car here it was bought in Spain DOES not have a spare, just the "gunk" stuff and has passed every ITV (MOT) in the past 4 years. I have been stopped by the police loads of times both in car and MH and never ever asked for a spare wheel or for that matter triangles or jackets. No one is knocking your post information is always handy, what I'm trying to point out what you posted is NOT about a motorhome.

If you want a good read then here is what you need to know - old but still active directive:
http://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/spanish-laws-on-motorhomes-english-version.12807/

Then you have the N332 motorhome page by Royal Decree 2822/of December 23 1998

Broken Link Removed

  1. EQUIPMENT
Motorhomes have to carry equipment in accordance with Annex XII of the Reglamento General de Vehículo, as follows: A set of light bulbs and indispensable tools for changing the bulbs, two portable warning triangles, a spare wheel or temporary wheel and the tools to change wheels or alternative system for changing them, providing sufficient guarantees for vehicle mobility.
This is the "gunk" supplied by the MH seller and is standard on many MH now. Not much good if the tyre is a blow out, I know.

I I will only say, I thought that as the police of the country of Spain posted this information today and, to me it made sense, whether it was for a car, motor home, truck or any other vehicle, it made sense to me.

In my response I said that I would still carry my spare, not because I did or did not have to carry it but, because it made sense to me.

And whilst I note that lots of posters live in Spain, SO DO I and have done for 11 years.

But believe me, I will in future be VERY careful what I post on motorhome FUN!

1 vest per person in the vehicle so at least 4 to be carried - does this mean 1 vest per person who are in the vehicle at the time (I.e driver plus passenger = 2 vests) or do you mean that if you have 4 travelling seats, at least 4 to be carried because your vehicle can take up yo 4 people?
Bit confused.

If your own your own 1 x vest, if your have a friend 2 x vest, if your have 3 friends 4 x vests. So simple answer carry four, they are as cheap as chips.(y)

There are those who worry themselves sick in case they are not conforming to every single rule and regulation to the letter, and then there are those who don't!

Still haven't fastened that red and white stripey square thingy on my bike rack...

Will anyone visit me when I am locked up?

I'll tell you what you cannot legally have on a Spanish registered Mh & that is reflective tape on the backs of your exterior mirrors. I got a pull & sharp intake of breath & a "¡ Noooooooooooo es ilegal ! " last week when I Itv'd the MH.

They'll have to fine me then! Although I do about ALL on my car, I will certainly not change a wheel on my motorhome (I never check the pressure myself either, too many machines won't work properly and instead of getting a good wheel to travel , you find yourself with a flat one!!), nor will I change a bulb!
I will call insurance , just as I did in France and get one of their huge lorries to come and fix the problem! The nuts are usually so tight , you can't remove them anyway, so why bother! And if they (guardia civil) don't understand, I will give them the tools and let them try.... Ahaaa a good laugh in perspective!

Regarding the warning signs on the bike covers, I only recently found out that, in Spain and Italy, they have to be aluminium rather than plastic/card. And, of course, the Spanish one has only three stripes rather than five like most other countries that require them to be displayed. I have to ask...why? I believe from previous posts that the cops let this pass unless you commit a seperate offence or get involved in an accident.

Tyres and good tyre pressures on a motorhome are critical, you can buy a gauge for €5 and check the pressures at the petrol station yourself!

Could I ask about Triangles? I've got a couple, but they're quite old. Do they have to conform to any standard? For example; unlike modern ones, mine aren't made with retroflective tape with a day-glo inset. They are ally-backed with the sort of reflective Perspex (like wot you get on a rear car's lamp reflectors).

Oh I do know this ..... but you see I'm a bit of a cheeky moo  and if I do it myself..... who am I going to sue if anything happens? While if it's a tyres' seller and therefore a specialist who does the job......:p (Just understand I do not trust myself on this specific matter!;))

How can a tyre seller specialist do the job when you are supposed to check the pressure of your tyres every week ?:Eeek:
