That's exactly where I found the spot. It's right on the beach near nothingHi sandra. You will know that a lot of the natives ignore the majority of those signs .. and if it's away from the built up area I most probably would too...
If you are up that way why not use the map provided by the smwc ...loads of places round there.
Ta andy
A lot of the signs in Scotland were found to be erected illegally and councils were made to remove them. I just wonder if this one is legal or not.I live by a few simple rules, one of which is "if a sign is present saying don't do something then take the sign at face value and don't do it". Its not difficult.

Should be fine then... use it...That's exactly where I found the spot. It's right on the beach near nothing
At the St Andrews meet last wk end there was quite a bit of bad feeling to the meet from locals... but really don't know why... The place was left spotless and the local chippy got in excess of £500 order on Saturday night... not to mention the pub trade and my £30 parking fine in the town..

It was an organised meet by the W forum.. at least the 2nd one that I know of... local council informed and even put on rubbish collection for us so they obviously approvedNo wonder the locals complained. Wild camping is hardly a congregation of 46 mhs on the beach. Its meant to be discreet.
You would think they would take the locals views into account before approving. That's a lot of vans.It was an organised meet by the W forum.. at least the 2nd one that I know of... local council informed and even put on rubbish collection for us so they obviously approved

If the organisation hold paragraph 6 exemption status they simply have to have the land owners permission, not the councils, to hold a rally for up to 5 days duration. This forum and Wildcamping hold such exempt status. There is no limit on the number of vans that can be present at a para 6 rally. For longer Para 4 rallies (up to 28 days) the council have to be consulted. You would think they would take the locals views into account before approving. That's a lot of vans.
Wonder if the locals were informed though?...
..not sure what the 'traveller' situation is like in Scotland but if a large number of vans appeared round here they would be assumed to be the dreaded Itinerants.

How do we know if these signs are legal or not? Should they gave a bylaw number or something?View attachment 95075
They are easy to spot as they have no number plates usually.
The reason I asked if the locals had been informed as the local authority provided rubbish service. The Traveller situation is no different in Scotland to the rest of the UK. Locals do not have to be informed. The only time locals have to be informed is if a (5 van) paragraph 5 site is seeking to be established. Then the Council and the locals have to be given 28 days notice to lodge comments or complaints. It is the club that grants the exemption not the council in these cases.

I don't think I'd be too happy if that amount of vans turned up near us and got the councils blessing tbh
