Any thoughts about a handbrake extender? Has anyone got one? We've got a Hymer B524 on a Ducato 2008. I have had a google around and it seems that we may have a problem with the fittings for a Ducato 2008 and an extender may need some modification. As I'm small I'm finding hill starts difficult with the handbrake being so low.

Yes I've heard they make entry and exit more difficult, exit in particular (y)

I have one of these on my Peugeot based van Broken Link Removed. Makes the handbreak a fly off type so takes a little getting used to.

Edit Link now works(y)

For increased safety buy a Hymer - there's no door. Now THAT makes entry and exit more difficult :D.

Should that be Hymer A class.
You do get the hang of low hand brake but may be answer for some
I gather some can't get on with extender though !

Getting Better
You can get electric handbrake modification fitted, just a switch on the dash, does cost around £800 though..! Manly used by disabled people....

I bough one of these Broken Link Removed in 2008 for my Peugeot and transferred it to my 2015 Fiat Ducato - as everyone else says - be careful that it does not get knocked off :( - but makes it so much easier to drive with - does take some getting used to.

Thanks for your thoughts. We have got a Hymer A class but it does have a driver's door, no passenger side door. You don't have to use the driver door though.

On and off for many years.
We have one and it's great. It's the Kobran type.

On our Chausson (FIAT base) there is no problem with turning the seat and (so far) have not caught it getting in or out of the cab :)
