Since the Christmas group left we have continued to be active with the remaining Funsters! (No jokes here!).
We took Armytwowheels and Sid James out on their mountain bikes. We were joined by a very fit, very tall, very friendly, Dutch man.
We set off at 10 am and within 5 minutes we had to stop for me to cough my guts up (almost). I've had a virus for almost two weeks. We set off again for Colin (SJ) to say his cleat on his shoe had broken. Shoe repaired and off again for Colin to then say he didn't know where the Motorhome keys were!
He and the friendly Dutchman retraced the route right back to the camperstop where they found the keys still in the Motorhome door! They caught up with us again and then Martin had a flat tyre on his bike. Tyre pumped up but deflated again. The friendly Dutchman stayed with Martin to repair it whilst we continued slowly up hill. They caught up with us and then we continued our 4 hour ride without further mishap!
Having a break (together) once the ride got started!
When we returned to Totana the Funsters Jenben had arrived. They parked their van and came for lunch with us.
The following day we took them for a road ride. A2W and SJ were doing Admin work. On returning Jenben found that their fridge was defrosting so SJ was called upon for his expertise. Solution found and wine and cheese enjoyed by all!
The next morning took us all on a walk with a (caravanning) friend!
We walked up to the statue of Jesus that can just be seen from the camperstop (lit up at night). We then descended to the sanctuary of La Santa, before continuing our walk to finish for a meal at Venta La Rata (again!)
This now brings us to yesterday. We took Jenben on a road ride up to Aledo. We diverted through the Estrecho de Algualeja, a cañon near Aledo
Approaching the Estrecho
Disappearing!
The entrance.
More photos can be seen on my blog.
After this visit we went to Aledo to visit the tower.
And the church.
We then had a nice downhill ride back for a beer and a barbie!
Today was forecast to rain (Spanish rain dance) so Martin and Mr. Jenben did a bit of work on my cyclocross bike to fit a new cassette to make it easier to ride uphill. They did this in the kitchen!
Later we're going shopping to buy food for a barbie tomorrow with A2W and SJ, Jenben and the Friendly Dutchman and his wife before they leave to continue on their travels. Photos of the party may follow tomorrow!!!
