Cheap stay at Stowford Farm full facilities site in Devon - VW Rally (open to all) May Day Bank Holiday 3 nights 29 April - 2 May (late stay included) pitch for £40 up to 6 people plus extra nights at £5 per night. From the Facebook info. looks like it includes EHU too & non VW will be in fields 4 & 5 which are the quieter fields. More info.

Last year there was daytime & live band evening entertainment & looks like even more planned this time so might make a good Fun meet?! Not sure if we can go yet but pencilled in the diary & will call them to check on availability of pitches - can see on Facebook that at least 320 already booked in to the VW fields (with capacity for up to 500!) which sounds busy but huge well spread out site with plenty of toilet/shower blocks. For those that can stay longer & take advantage of the £5 night deal the site should be a lot quieter before & after the weekend so ideal time to take advantage of the pool but it will be bedlam during the rally! There isn't a bus stop nearby so that's really the only downside of a longer stay at Stowford but should be plenty going on for a weekend especially if a few Funsters go along too

Stowford does a week for £60 incl. EHU for a week in their low season & £90 in mid season so as cheap as some CL but have use of full facilities - this is for up to 6 people but awning £1 extra per night http://stowford.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Stowford-2016-Special-Offers.pdf . It also says extra for dogs, extra cars & hardstandings etc but from booking previously we were told that it is their policy to allocate hardstanding pitches to motorhomes automatically - we were on a rally & didn't have to pay extra then.
Before anyone asks we don't have any connection with Stowford but always on the lookout for good deal & commercial sites can be a great option. We get sent mailshots from Stowford & have stayed there for a long weekend. Only problem is that when we have contacted other sites they normally keep their rally rates private & don't disclose what clubs are booked in so normally no chance of discounted rates at peak times. Think Stowford is more inclusive as they have such a lot of capacity. Be good if we could have Motorhome Fun discount at lots of sites especially considering the size of the membership - any sites reading please feel free to offer this!

If booking with a motorhome to stay with this VW rally let them know as they will automatically allocate a hardstanding pitch (Stowford always do this) which for this rally will be in Field 5 so all Funsters likely to be in the same field at least Currently more than 20 hardstanding pitches available. They charge £1 extra per night for hardstanding pitches so £43 for 3 nights & up to 6 people, EHU definitely included & no extra charge during rally period for normal extras like awning & late stay on the Monday until 4pm. It is possible to add on extra nights either side of this for up to 14 nights total at base rate £5 (saving £5.50 - £11.80 per night) for pitch but extra for hardstanding (£1 pn), awning, children, dogs etc. See their pricing here http://stowford.co.uk/caravanning-camping-in-devon/our-prices/ Still could work out a great deal for a longer stay depending on your requirements.
Field 5 has its own modern toilet & shower block, a good outlook over fields as can be seen in the photo above (although it is sloping so ramps needed) & is quieter being removed but only a short stroll to the bars, pool, shop etc.

Devon's just down the road from Somerset, and my son has a nice field on Dartmoor. Cost, zilch.

But this does sound fun. 500 VW vans in a close by field is not going to be busy?

We went to Stowford during the Practical Motorhome & Caravan rally & nearly all the fields were full so more than 500 with seasonal pitch owners & other bookings but Field 5 was pleasant & other than a couple of family group gatherings having bbq it was pretty quiet. If a few Funsters do go this year it will probably be us making the noise Do agree that the evening entertainment will probably be very busy so worth getting there early, avoid the peak times for swimming as very popular with the kids (but they should only be there late Friday to Monday as school term time) & book any activities (horse riding / Pitch & Putt / Crazy Golf) or a table for the restaurant early if wanted. At the very least it is cheap break on a full facilities site with a choice of things to do on & off site but can appreciate it might not be everyones cup of tea

Drinks aren't cheap in the Stowford bars but looks like a good choice of acts.

We went to the Practical Motorhome weekend last year and had great fun despite the weather. Field 5 is VERY steep in places. Toilet block excellent. A weekend was enough for us because it is very isolated with no public transport. Food in the pub wasn't bad. Would have been tempted if we hadn't been off to Germany.
