I received a recall for my Fiat Ducato 290 model. Ignition switch to be replaced as it could cause ABS and/or bag failure. It says the matter is urgent. Also posted with it was a note from the DVSA saying it was urgent.

Does your notice list the VIN's involved?

If you download the the Fiat Camper App, input your vehicle details it tells you if any recalls on the app. You can check every day if you wish.

Had a recall on mine and the app told me before the letter arrived.

I looked at the app, it seemed to me that they wanted to know a bit to much info, wanting photos of everything, I'll just ring the dealer tomorrow

I'm a bit confused, I have put into the VIN checker on the Fiat camper website, the number from the Motorhome I'm due to collect in a few weeks from France and it comes up with the following:

Car check for service campaigns: there are no service campaigns and a green tick

Recall Campaigns: there are recall campaigns but it has a red x

Does this mean it is part of the recall or not? Confused, the VIN is within the band mentioned.

I would think that yes, it's part of the recall, the red X meaning 'warning', green tick meaning 'it's all OK'

Thanks I wasn't sure if that's what it meant or that the supplying dealer had already fixed it. I'll have to contact them about it. Should it be done before they supply to me or is this something you have to take to a Fiat dealer?

I expect the experienced guys on here will help, but personally I wouldn't want to be driving it that distance without it being fixed. Not sure how your insurance would feel either if all went wrong despite the warning. If the previous owner didn't have it fixed, I also feel I'd expect the dealer to get it done. Maybe he already has? I'm sure Fiat will be able to confirm that for you.

It is brand new and has not been registered before so I feel that thus should be corrected before delivery, like you I am concerned about driving back about 700 miles with a safety issue. I will contact them tomorrow to check the position, many thanks for your replies.

We have had ours done, but still no notification from anyone. I asked the dealers and they said that DVLA would contact us.

Done 9,000 miles in ours with no problems so I wouldn't worry about a short trip.
Ours has now been modified but I only found out that it needed the mod after downloading the Fiat App.

Richard.

Recalls go to a FIAT dealer not a motorhome one, it is a Base vehicle failing, there will be a FIAT dealer in your area then go there, certainly do not drive up country to someone who cannot do it anyway.

We have had a letter through today, they give you a list of all the fiat professional dealers with the letter. We will try to combine it with its first service at the end of the month. Does anyone know if @eddievanbitz strikeback growler system will cause a problem?

Thanks for the info, I definitely have the dashboard lighting issue ( the one where the ABS and other lights are all the time but dimmed, and come on full when I put on cruise control?) but checked the FIAT camper application and no recall for my chassis number. At least when I go to the dealer the recall is now known, hopefully !

I think the dashboard lighting issue refers to the speedo visibility issue rather than the warning lights partly on issue. You have to register for the former and the latter is done on an individual basis. I've had my instrument cluster replaced already but have not been informed about the visibility issue which was due to roll out about now. I have a piece of reflective card strategically placed to help with that at the moment.
