Has anyone got one of these on their van, could use an handle to get in, and thought it would be extra security but on looking at pictures of it , it doesn't appear to be openable from inside, so no use for using when in the van, is this the case?, otherwise it looks very reasonable at less than £60.

I have the bigger one ,its a great aid for getting in and out with ease for me being a tad doddery. However as a security item it is only effective when used for when you leave the van as it folds over the door preventing easy access and locks securely. Roy

Correct, can only be opened from outside. And an savvy thieves would know your "out" if it's locked shut.

It just says look everyone I've gone out. Please help yourselves.
Great if you need assistance getting in and out BUT if parked up I'd leave it OUT so they think you are in (y)

Pity that otherwise it would be great, they are missing something there.
If anyone gets my door open everyone will know about it.
Strikeback

With a Fiamma your van will be wrecked or they'll break in through something easier like your cab windows

I bought the Milenco one which is not a handle but merely a lock but crucially it is operated outside with a key and inside with a knob so ideal for nighttime security and safety.

See it here:-

Yes seen them too, but the handle would be a help, you would think it would be simple for something that combined the two, and as to leaving it out , it would be a danger to anyone walking past., think I will have to study a bit more(n)

If they were that close they'd deserve it and if they missed it they'd knock themselves out on the long arm mirrors :ROFLMAO:

Don't forget if you really like the idea of the night time security you would get using this in the closed and locked position then using the cab doors for entry and exit. Bit of a faff but would enable you to use it as an aide during the daytime..

If you just need something to help you in/out why not just fit a bar/large handle?

I have seen this done, mainly on aires, but in my opinion it is dangerous practice as you could be trapped in the m/h in the event of a fire.

True and so you could if you had dead locks fitted to cab doors and fire was at rear of motorhome ..theres always a risk no matter what you do..so a risk assessment should be done before fitting any thing to your motorhome...

No good for when you are in it but excellent for when you leave the vehicle and as a grad handle. Those who are worrind it signals you are out need to consider what happens when the crook realises you are out because he saw you leave the van in the car park or just knocks on the door! Not difficult to establish you are not in really and the handle across just provides another deterrent. Get one

I only ever use cab doors when travelling as hab I leave triple locked & normally stack stuff against. Anyway you need the step out as bottom of door is over 24" off the ground. You wouldn't want to be getting out/in without the step.

We only use the cab doors as well, but still leave the hab door usable in case of emergency, just can't see why they couldn't make these handles so you could unlock them from inside same as the door locks they sell.

As an Entry exit aid? Good. As security, Hmm, Not sure, In any case IF you have "Plastic" windows a small blow torch gets you in despite what you do. "Strikeback" (others are available!!) and an ear crippling loud siren, is probably a better option.

My own option of having c4 in all the "Goodies" with the means to detonate them when in the hand of the thieves is my preferred option, But sadly a "Non approved" method!.

I think what I'm going to do is get a non locking handle, they are about £20 on the same site as above and a separate door lock that works from inside, for about £30 then I have both but cheaper(y)

NO!! They have a tendency to release them selves at inopportune moments like just as you are trying to get out of the Bath!!!!!.

Maybe handy in the shower but wouldn't think they would work on the outside of the van, but thanks for the heads up , I'm still looking for the ideal solution (y) but it still beats me why these other handles are not designed to open from inside, makes no sense.

I use ours to attach our flagpole to when parked up, to find the van in among the other white boxes at a Rally.

Do you not find that "flag poles" attached to any part of the van tend to have noisy vibrations?. Annoyingly intrusive when its quiet at night?

Have one, it was fitted by previous owner..

I find it very good as a grab handle, and when locked it covers the door lock .. so one more thing to break before gaining entry.. at which time the Strike Back Alarm will go off..

I have seen them on MH's & caravans, I've spoken to a couple of owners about them, but I never felt convinced.
