hi my 95ah Varta battery seems on its way out after 2.5 yrs. apart from size which is a factor in where it's located, is there really much difference from say a cheap and cheerful £60. 110 ah battery ( I intend fitting two in the space ) or is better to get one that's more expensive seems to be about £110 each for some other brands.

Are they really twice as good ? Or will cheap and cheerful do for a few years ? Your thoughts please

Yes it is a la 95 agm.

I have solar as well and it went from being plugged in to ehu at 9 am I drove to new brighten. Heating on all day no television etc and at 9pm heating turned off. At 5 am this morning battery was showing 11%. Not good and not usually like that but seems to have done it once before as well so maybe time for a new one

since 2007, 25 years tuggin before that.
Must get round to testing mine before we start a new season of Aires/wilding.
All bought cheap cheap, & one is now 6 years old (this is the third van it's been on) & another is 5 so I was expecting them to be dead long ago.

Does your van have a charger with the proper charge regime for AGM, if not that isprobably the reason the battery has failed.
Both my Banner AGM's failed in 18 months, I've just replaced them with Gel batteries.

Well it was factory fitted from brand new van so I would hope it's all ok .

Very much doubt it, the Hymer group have been fitting AGM's since 2012 and have only had a suitable AGM charger in the last few months. Very unlikely Rollerteam have been fitting the correct charger, also, the solar charger needs to have the correct charge regime, which I also doubt it has.

Good advice from Lenny. I would stick to sealed lead-acid or gel. My last 2 x 110 Ah lasted 6 years and they were sealed lead-acid.

Getting better month by month.
My new Schaudt 119 has a sticker on the casing indicating agm. Hopefully it has the new insides to charge agm but clearly uses old casings that have not been up graded yet.

Gel's for me but our mains and solar charger have the correct setting for charging them.

One of the lucky ones, will be interesting to see if the AGM's last any better. I've lost faith in then, noticed yesterday my car has an AGM, over 3 years old and still going, fingers crossed, but is in an application AGM's were designed for (stop/start).
