Went there a couple of years ago .The show itself is huge .Loads of new ideas , accessories and vans that we probabally won't get our hands on for a long time .Bad points about the show was the camping was very regimental.A large amount of accessories at the show was just for Trade members meaning the public couldn't purchase .Glad I wen't but wouldn't go again .:thumb:

Go onto the Caravan Salon website CARVAN SALON CLUB click on the link Werden Sie hier kostenlos Mitglied. You then have a form to fill in, it's pretty easy to understand most of it anything you don't just use Babel Fish or some other translation website. Register for both of you & you get a Caravan Salon Club card, in the past this would give you a discount of 3 euros a night off camping & 3 euros off the entrance fee.
When you get there you only pay for the daytime so if you arrive early evening there can be big queues but it gives you the first night free. They are usually pretty well organised so you will be told where to camp. Buying tickets for the show allows you to use the bus or tram to get to Dusseldorf & some of the surrounding area. We used to by a 2 day ticket which you can use for any of the days, we would go around one day then have a break to recover & then go in on another day.

We have always enjoyed it so hope you do.

Prices for the show
1-day entrance tickets:
Adults EUR 12
2-day entrance tickets EUR 19
School children, students EUR 8
children 6-12 Jahre EUR 5

CARAVAN SALON CLUB Members:
1-day entrance tickets EUR 8
2-day entrance tickets EUR 14

We have been going many times over the past 12 years - Every motorhomer should make the pilgrimage at least once.

The show is excellent - yes it is huge - makes the NEC look like a garden shed sale! Best idea is, as Ed says, take at least a couple of days even if you know what you are looking for.

There are 2 halls which are for accessories in one of them it is mainly a trade show so that the big companies like Thetford Dometic etc can show their new products in the hope that 'van manufacturers will put 'em in next years model.

I would suggest avoiding the week ends and go mid week as it can get well crowded.

Again I agree with Ed - Try the free shuttle to the old town "Altstadt" - well worth a visit. If you are hungry and you want to try some real German grub go to "Zum Schlussel" (The Key) - a pub in the old town but get there early as it gets very busy.

Hi there John,

As well as being busy, the camping area can also be very noisy, due to being underneath the flightpath for Dusseldorf Airport. The latest flight I recorded was almost midnight, and the earliest was around 04.30.
We are glad that we went, but will possibly not go again. It has to be done once though. :winky:

On the camping area, no one was pitched near us when we left the MH to go for a wander, however, when we came back, Frenchy matey was pitched about two feet away from our front bumper...................just so that he could get a satellite signal through the gap in the trees. That meant that we were wedged in completely, with no means of getting out in a hurry, if need be. Having pointed out the error of his ways, he dutifully moved forward to leave a reasonable gap between us, but was clearly peed off about it all. Inconsiderate git! :roflmto::roflmto::roflmto:

Jock & Rita.
