I am replacing my reich tap with a Whale.

How the heck do I remove the old tap on my Elddis Autostratus LS? There is no access as the fridge is underneath the sink and the cooker at the side. Is the only way in to remove the sink bowl/drainer?

hi stratus and welcome to the FUN.

yes, you will need to remove the sink from the worktop.

look around the sink edge for any small plastic/rubber bungs.
carefully remove the bungs and the screws underneath them and lift the sink up.
there should be enough length on the pipes/waste to get both hands under the sink.

there are different pipe fixings to the taps but look for a small plastic pin at 90deg to the tap body between the pipes.
push it out and the pipe block will pull off the tap block.

dont forget to turn the pump off and open all taps first!!!

i forgot to open the taps and theres a lot of pressurised water in the pipesoh:and theres nowt you can do to stop it!!!

Thanks. We thought that the sink would have to come out.
Last week we took out all the screws and tried to move the sink but it's stuck fast. :Sad:

Should we cut through the seal around the edge first?

on mine it isnt a seal in the normal sense.....its a rubber gasket which fits around the sink edge and is trapped under the lip.

it may well be stuck through age, not glued.

carefully prise it up with something which wont scratch the worktop....screwdriver tip with a bit of tape round it.

cut the seal and you'll need a new oneoh:

if it has been glued for some reason then use a craft knife blade as flat as possible between the seal and worktop.:thumb:

Hi if you can get at it remove the drain pipe from under the sink, when you have the top screws out try tapping with your hand to release the sink I had prob,s on my swift to re-tighten the taps that had come loose. Peter:thumb:

thats the same sink as ours but ours is flush with the worktop so the seal may be different.oh:

it sits about half an inch below the worktop...wish it was flush!

Maybe the seal needs to be cut for ours then?

not sure but it would be easy to re-seal being recessed.

if you have/can get one try a sink plunger type sucker on the sink base to pull it up.:thumb:

brilliant idea. Will let you know how I get on.

It's our first motorhome and we've had niggling probs but we've sorted them, learning as we go. Carver heater leaked..but found a man who fixed it, had to do a lot of re-sealing as it had gone hard and cracked, mended silver blinds to name just a few but it's all good fun and we now can't wait to go away in it

Just an idea , have you looked into gaining access through the top external fridge vent?

Might be easier than pulling the sink out which may be bonded to the underside of the work top.

Had to cut the seal around the edge and cut through all the sealant underneath.

I'm going to do a little remod to the fridge vent hole so that I can get in again if the need arises.
