About to start!
We'll be collecting our very first motorhome(a Hymer B584, built in 2000) in a couple of weeks and need to buy some levellers and chocks for a night's stopover on our maiden voyage home. Suggestions for ones to buy and ones to avoid will be very welcome. Or are they all much of a muchness? Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!

We tend not to use them, if it's just an over night stop, as long as the slope is not to bad I can live with it. Most sites are level but it's handy to have a set, just it case. :xThumb:

I used the Millenco Quatro on my previous van, they are slightly larger than the little three step yellow Fiamma ones but they come in a neat carry bag and stood up well to the bashing I gave them with my 4.5 tonne Geist Silver Spirit.

I agree with Popeye, we've recently bought the Quatros and find them so much easier to use....that could be subconsious though, knowing that you have that little bit longer leveller without worrying about going off the top. I'd even use them if I needed to on my own:)

One thing though, they are quite heavy......

Milenco Triples have been fine for us for the last 6 years. They take up a bit less storage, are marginally shorter and cheaper and even managed to get us level at Shell Island !

There are other levellers on the market at about twenty pounds, which are quite sufficient considering they are used infrequently.

Whilst it might seem counter-intuitive it can be easier to level a MH than a caravan (on uneven ground rather then on a sloping site). Sometimes moving a few feet is enough. Use a spirit level where you can see it from the driver's seat.

I've used these for the last 10 years or so:

Like a few others here. We have Milenco Quattros. They are bulky but have four stage levelling and are nice and wide. I used to keep a spirit level in the van but now use an app on my iPhone instead. Works a treat. Gary

As @Popeye say's Milenco Quattro's , that's what we use, I also take one fiamma yellow medium on the other axle, but that 's me being a bit pedantic about being level or (should her indoors say's)

We use Milenco Triples have been fine for us, and lighter than the quattro's, don't use them a lot but handy to have, also use air suspension to help level, good thing about the quattro's less worry about going to far and dropping of the back.

Milenco quattros for us. As stated they are quite large especially in our PVC but we just stick them under the van if we don't need them. You will sleep a lot better if your van is level.

If your house wasnt built level you would soon be onto the builder so why accept it in a motorhome ?

Many thanks for all the help and advice, as always. We've just ordered the Milenco Quattros online for £40 including delivery.

We moved from a caravan to a motor home to get away from all faffing about with steadies, levellers, waste water/fresh water. Our last motor home sloped forward on level ground and we just put up with it rather get the ramps out every time. Our present one feels level on level ground which I regard as basic design criteria.
I have a pair of cheap ones for unavoidable situations.

Bit late as you've already ordered some but the Thule ones we find very good. I was put off the Millenco as I was told they didn't work very well with 16" wheels and of course their bulk. The Thules fit in a smallish bag. The Fiamma ones we had previously we found too low.

Flogged my quattros to another funster. Too much faff, heavy and take up a lot of room that could be used for wine.
As my MH is one of those that isn't level on level ground, the back being 6" higher than the front, I find I can usually get pretty level either by moving a bit or parking the other way round. (I'm not a member of the caravan club so that's not a problem:xgrin:)

If I need a spirit level to tell me I'm not level, then I'm level enough.:xThumb:

I'm sure we'll give onlookers lots of entertainment on our maiden voyage. Still, worth it for a good night's sleep!

I agree completely PJ but the OP did say she want levellers for over night stops which I read as in traveling to her destination and as I never use them on just over night stops, I put in my twopence worth. :xgrin:

Kait,
I previously had a B584 of the same age as the one you have just bought. My Quattros fitted happily in one of the outside lockers along with a number of other items although I only used them a couple of times. They now live in the outside locker of my slightly newer B584 and I have yet to use them, so long as I have the spare capacity to carry them I will.
Enjoy your van.
Norman.

7 years followed by a break of 11 years and then 4+ years but given up now
We press a button and the van is level in a couple of minutes - couldn't get on too well with ramps so sold them through the classified on this site.

Do those Quatro chocks still work with the handbrake left off?

The reason I ask is our MH pools water on the roof when it's level but I don't want to leave it in storage for long periods chocked up with the handbrake on (bad memories of snapped handbrake cable incident some years ago).

Do you reckon I could safely pull it up a couple of notches on the Quatro chocks, leave the handbrake off, then put some other chocks behind the back wheels as a failsafe (current high winds spring to mind) and get away with it?
