Don't know just caught the tail end of the report but apparently people are buying it in error and damaging engines. Report said several people caught out leading to expensive recovery and engine damage. They did say cars.

Apparently it's for petrol engine vehicles so most of us motorhomers SHOULD be OK!! unless you want to try petrol in a diesel engine ....not recommended!!

nothing wrong with sticking a gallon or so of petrol in your diesel tank.cleans it up nicely n helps when you have smoke test. good in winter if your going some where cold . best not fill it up though .

 it is a motorized lie of the constructors. I rolled jaguar with a xj40 of 1995 during 50 000 km with E85 (85 % of ethanol!) without any breakdown!
Logical, they want to sell theirs new engine with "specificities bio-ethanol "! they lie !

you are right on older engines, i wouldn't try it on a common rail engine though? also petrol burns the plastic, rubber, filters 0 rings etc in the pump, there,s over 3000 psi in the rail and the way the injectors spray is critical, it will also blow your arm of if you try opening an injetor pipe when running to check its feeding fuel.:Eeek:

Ethanol has less energy than petrol so it is reckoned that an increase in fuel of 3% may occur with 10% ethanol (SP95 E10).

Ethanol removes gum deposits so the crud floating around the system may block filters.

Ethanol is hygroscopic, i.e it absorbs water and this, due to other substances in the fuel, can make it acidic. Damage to "rubber" seals has been reported and fuel stored long time may cause corrosion to the fuel tank.

It is reckoned that a 10% mix has little effect on modern (!) engines.
