Having camped there for a number of years on the Quayside (quai Gambetta), the rules has recently been changed.

Has anyone been there recently and can you park a motorhome there?

Thanks

Don't know about the Quayside, I did an o/night on the car park alongside the Casino, on the 6th of June. Myself and one tugger, catching the morning Speed Ferry on the 7th.

Pete:Cool:

PS Thinking about it , I did see about half a dozen Motorhomes parked on what must have been the Quayside, as the Ferry left the Port in the morning. First time out of Bolougne for me, so I don't know the area.

In the past we've parked there a couple of times.

This year, on or way back from Spain, we avoided the parking alongside the quay you refer to. We were 'told' it is no longer allowed to overnight on the quayside.

Thinking about that they said the same last year and we spent the night there with a couple of other vehicles. Maybe that was because we are never there in the peak summer period.

I think I have added to the confusion !

We did stay at the aire at Equihen Plage. A particularly unattractive aire adjacent to the local sewage plant. If that is the aire you indicate I would check out the quay parking first and failing that I would overnight at Auchun.

There is a large parking place for campers near the football stadion in Le Portel a few miles south of Boulogne. (at 50.71076 North and 1.57628 East)
Everything is free - even electricity and water. Electricity is powered only during daytime (i guess from 9am to 5pm) and water is available 1 hour in the morning and one hour in the late afternoon - but everything is free)
In the months with an R in it you can pluck very good and tasty mussels in the sea at low tide (mind the color of the flag - red and green - depending on the quality of the sea water and the mussels)
At the center of the village there is a bus (think every 30 mins) to and from Boulogne.

Also there's a big shopping center only a few 100's of meters away behind the corner and a fuel station (with reduced diesel prices)
In the the center of the village (only walking distance) there is a touristic info center. They can help you in french, english, german, dutch and maybe some other language aswell.
People from Le Portel are very nice and friendly to everybody, never knew there's anything happened on that camperplace. (been there a few times)

Sorry if my english is a bit strange - picked it up when traveling (same as french and german) :roflmto:
