We are shortly to buy this as our first-time motorhome to include ski trips and hopefully a lot of fulltiming.
Did we pick well in your opinion?

Won't go far wrong with a Hymer, French bed layout works well if you don't need a garage, out last van was a Hymer Tramp with the same layout served us well. What is the gross weight as if only 3500kg you may need to upgrade to get enough usable payload.

What Lenny said.. and if full timing you WILL need as much payload as possible and I would also consider a model with a garage.. being ex full time I know how much stuff you take.. for me a garage would be a 'must have'.

ex factory, our B644 garage model has 1,000kg. payload

Is it by any chance the one at Becks, if so & you are not going to use the towbar I would get rid of it, they weight between 50 - 80kg and all behind the rear axle.

No it's a private sale. But got the specs from their advert . Presuming all 2006 B654 Legends are the same?

MTPLM is Gross weight, the maximum total weight of the vehicle.
With a MTPLM of 3900 kg less 680kg payload will give a MIRO (mass in running order) of 3220kg. Hymer specify the MIRO including a driver at 75kg, 20Lt of water, 90% fuel & one 11kg aluminum gas bottle.
To know what the real payload is you need to deduct any factory fitted & dealer fitted extras, e.g. it will probably have a comfort pack which will include a drivers door, oven , larger fridge, awning, 2nd battery, steel gas bottles etc.
Ask to look at the Certificate of Conformity, under the Mass in Running Order there will be a line "Technical Mass in running Order" this will give the MIRO when it left the factory i.e. including factory fitted options.

No, there will be an options on weights and chassis, basic will probably be 3500kg with a 3850kg option (3900 sounds odd) or the maxi chassis's at 4250kg with an option of 4500kg.

This van doesn't have a tow bar and it does have a comfort pack like you described.

Yes I think it is OK, for normal use, but could be a bit tight for full timing.
If you are serious about full timing you need to get confirmation of the gross weight and before completing the sale get it to a weighbridge, also check front and rear axle loadings. If it is on the maxi chassis shouldn't have any problems, but the light chassis can get tight on the rear axle.

You might have a word with existing B654 owners and get their opinions before purchase. Theonlysue and Ambilkate each have one I think.
