Haven't heard anything locally about any trouble in Dunkirk although there is a growing camp somewhere near the port according to our local news a few weeks back.

Drove off the ferry last Monday and not so much as a gendarme or customs official in sight as we drove through the port....didn't even see a gate ! Certainly no evidence of migrants hanging around.

There have never been any problems at Dunkirk, or migrants.
The 'camp ' which was housing some few hundred economic migrants , most paid 1500€ to receive 2 attempts at entering UK & were transported to Calais by British smuggling gangs , was about 30kms inland from Dunkirk.
The Gendarmes cleared it,& everyone, last week.

Now you have let the cat out of the bag they will all be rushing there. Many of them carry androids and tablets and will read this.

Yes, we stayed 4 nights in September waiting for our ferry. I believe we saw a sign you can park for 15 days. We parked as far from the terminal building as you can. We did see some potential migrants hanging around the dunes the day we arrived, but they were gone the next day - I wonder where they ended up????

DFDS ..... Not able to use Tesco vouchers as they do not allow motorhomes to use them ,.... Ferry prices higher and times early AM very late PM ,
( also they require 28 days notice to use Tesco vouchers) ,

Eurotunnel require 14 days notice ... on Tesco Vouchers

Eurotunnel over £180 return

So have gone with P & O .... £112 inc return , good daylight crossing times both ways .

BBCNews at 1pm today:
From just a few tents weeks ago, the camp has grown to 3000 and is anticipated to maybe reach 10,000 .
Despite local attempts to prevent another 'Calais', they seem to have given into the inevitable and are now allowing supplies in for charities to build "better" accommodation for humanitarian reasons.

Yes at both Calais and Dunkirk. The Calais ones are two story shipping containers with windows and doors cut into them, nearly ready. But also said they had increased police presence and the new mayor has said the army may be called in?

We arrived at Dunkirk Ferry Terminal last Wednesday 9th March, (after 4 weeks in France and Spain) a day earlier than our Ferry crossing back to Dover on the 10th. They let us overnight at the Car Park, just to the left of the DFDS Control Barrier entrance. Once they checked us on their computer, to verify our crossing for the next day, they let us through the Barrier, and opened an electric side Gate just past the Barrier, basically doing a u turn back onto a new Car Park. It has all changed at the Ferry Terminal there, since our last visit back in September last year. All new Tarmac, Fences, Barriers, etc.
Although the old Building still looks as if it's still there, unless my eyesight has deteriorated a lot since September.
