I am interested in upgrading the Blaupunkt system provided with my 2007 model Bolero to one which will allow me to hook up my iPod. Ideally I would like to buy something at Halfords and have them fit it, but I am concerned that the system might be a little more complicated than the ones they are accustomed to dealing with. The existing stereo has a DVD function, but it has been set up by the dealer not to play through the drop-down screen (which also acts as the reversing camera screen) or through the main TV (because the TV I had installed came with its own DVD player and has built-in freeview). Am I right in assuming, therefore, that replacing the stereo in the Swift would just be like replacing the stereo in a car? My biggest concern is that Halfords might do something which prevents the reversing camera from working and might do something which would invalidate the guarantee. At the same time, I dread to think what my dealer might charge to fit a stereo! Does anyone have any advice to offer me in my dilemma?

Sounds like you already have a better unit than anything Halfords would sell you.

Two choices.

1. Find a specialist because it almost certainly has an input lurking somewhere, it might just need a socket fitting.

2. Buy a transmitter.

If it works, don't fix it !

Check first on head unit menu, do you have a choice of CD,Radio and "AUX INPUT" if so you have at the rear of your system some RCA inputs they could be sockets on the rear of the head set or a couple of short leads dangling
all you need is one of these Link Removed your Ipod will play when plugged into this when you seclect aux input on your head unit

Hi,

The headunit and reversing camera are separate, so by changing the headunit, you will not affect any other part of the system.

The fitment is a standard single DIN unit, so just about any unit will fit (from JVC to Pioneer to Kenwood). The connections at the rear are also ISO connections (A & B), so fitting a new headunit simply means swapping them over.

The easiest solution will be to buy a transmitter (£20), but you can buy various accessories for the Blaupunkt from Bluespot:

But this might end up being more expensive than a new headunit.

I hope that helps.
