Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
Netherlands 2006 an amazing rescue takes place as people ride out to lead some horses to safety when they'd become marooned on an island created by a flood. Sadly some horses died but if the rest of the horses had just been left it would have been a lot worse. As owners of three horses Hazel & I were amazed & have a great deal of respect for all of those involved in this rescue.

Stunning, heartwarming (and heartbreaking).

Typical horses though, all that going on and they STILL have to go nose-to-tail!

I think maybe they had drowned before the rescue ....they did seem tightly packed on that" island" I'm so glad they managed to rescue them.
Horses and ponies never cease to amaze me ..they are amazing animals

Long time
I'm crying now!
Years ago I was driving home from work, we had had a ton of rain and the river banks had broken. The Gypsy horse were all tethered along the banks, no one could do anything. For days afterwards there were horse carcasses covered in tarps dotted all along the river bank! I shall never forget seeing those horse up to their nostrils in water!
