Motorhome under 15k (2 Viewers)

Sorry if this has been asked before I am new to this I am looking for a motorhome for 10-15k I was looking I was looking at a couple on eBay and would like some thoughts

I do like the a class style it needs to have 3 point seat belts in the rear for child's seats

Welcome @Craigspop I bought a Hymer and have no regrets except for it not being fitted with an oven. The left hand drive models tend not to command such high prices as right hand drive models.

The Hymer would be my choice.. LHD is not an issue in the UK.. either for driving or insurance.. . In my experience there is little or no difference in prices.

I would NOT buy a continental RHD as the cab door will not be on the right..

The Hymer will hold it's value.

The Hymer is a better construction than the other two. they use a system called PUAL.. polyurethane/aluminium construction.. there is no timber in the construction frame to rot.. they can leak, like any van, I just repaired a leaking roof light, but it rarely causes a problem as there is nothing to rot.

Internally they use real wood .. solid construction.. no chipboard, no sticky back plastic trim or MDF and high quality work top laminates.

It looks a tidy, well looked after van..

Good ones don't sit on dealers forecourts for long.. I missed two by not acting quickly.. but don't rush.. it's a major purchase.. and a lemon leaves a lasting taste.

Another vote for the Hymer.
Great build quality and well respected, they're classic vans.

The one above looks in very good condition. It's got the most popular layout, with lots of seatbelts, the later 2.5tdi engine and power steering.
If it's as good as it looks in the pictures, I don't think the price is unreasonable either... to get some perspective, I sold my 1998 B544 for 17k a couple of years ago.

I would definitely go for the Hymer. My niggle about not having an oven is probably because I have been too lazy to fit one. My next MH, as and when I change, will also be a Hymer

In that particular Hymer.. not so easy.. the fridge is under the hob... but is that a ' must have' ?

German vans rarely have an oven as standard fit.. most are retro fitted

I'd avoid most if not all Brit coach built vans.. damp is a major problem in many.. even some new ones.

Before you buy any.. check it for damp.. use your nose and buy a damp meter .. and if it smells musty .. walk..

I would be more concerned with buying off Ebay, please be careful as there are as many scams as good deals on there it would seem.
View the MoHo at the owners address.
Make sure owners address matches log book.
Make sure chassis number matches log book.
Don't part with any money before you have possession of the vehicle.
HPI check the vehicle.
Make sure everything works.

Another vote for the Hymer from a biased owner of a very slightly older 544.

I certainly wouldn't bother fitting an oven, maybe get a small combo microwave to keep in a cupboard and use when on hook up?

Thanks for the advice just seen the hymer has a repair under the osr rear light which does not look good so don't think I will bother with that.

I am aware of the scammers been in the motortrade for 18 years so know my way round a car but motorhome are a whole new ball game to me lol

That's not a repair, that's an access panel for the fridge flue.
