There i was hoovering away today pulling out the chairs and stuff in the living room. After id nearly finished i noticed the hoover wasn't picking up to great, if at all. So i took my new headphones off only to realise it wasn't switched on :D. Does this sort of thing happen to you ?

I tend to ask for a demonstration

Then carefully avoid the obvious
The treasures she's saving on the carpet

Oh Please! is very often used remark
But I still need further training

Dave Allen had the right idea
Sweep it under the carpet

At the risk of getting into VERY serious Hot water. "why keep a dog, and bark yourself!"

Quite ... that's why my husband always does it ... he wanted a large Vax one a good few years ago and I said if we got it he'd have to do the vacuuming as it was too heavy for me ... he wanted so got more than he bargained for!

When we re-vamped current "residence" I retrofitted a Canadian fixed system. the unit is is the "broom" cupboard and there are 4 outlets about the house. so all we have is a wand and hose. plug in and off you go!. the kitchen has a "vac-pan" you sweep the debris into it kick the flap switch and whoosh gone!. Gets emptied about 3 time per year, and the filter cleaned.

Even I can use that! (Duo-Vac if you wish to google it)
