Since july 2009 And Still Going Strong
Yes Baa humbug. Not that I've seen any of the adverts, I've not watched TV since mid July when we sold it. have one in the van buts its just laying in a cupboard. Do watch the occasional dvd on the lap top though.

Worked at Waitrose for 15 years and putting the christmas stuff out on 1st October was the norm and then as stock ran out on christmas eve we put easter eggs out, well all the small cream egg sized ones anyway.

Used to get home late xmas eve, knackerered and then people wondered why you didn't get excited about all things christmassy.

Never mind left there and went somewhere growing xmas trees. Work the logic out with that one Ha Ha, or should it Ho Ho Ho.

Shawn.

It is very difficult to separate the real meaning of christmas from the retail meaning of Christmas which is to separate as many people as they can from as much as money as they can even when many cannot afford it and get into trouble financially buying their kids what fashion demands they just must have, just wait, it won't be long now before you will see adverts for payday loans with insane interest rates.

not long enough
Put our tree up yesterday..............................

But it is back down again, we have bought a new much larger one, need to get a load more baubles, Bev's idea was put it up, we can then dress a bit of it then multiply how many we need, seemed a half decent plan, until our niece popped round and now thinks we are mad, mostly true though maybe :)

My birthday is 18th December and I always begrudged Christmas being under way before my birthday, now I am older and especially since becoming a granddad last year :):):):):) can't wait this year (y)

But ours will stay away till December (y)

Do we really have to put up with all the bl**dy Christmas adverts on the box 8 weeks before the event?
I think tv Christmas adverts should be banned until the begining of December.
Yep, I know, Baa humbug

Inch'Allah they will be banned totally.

Hubby's birthday on the 18th as well, I'm on the 6th so usually put tree up about that time.
I love this time of year usually put up a couple of trees and making present plans at the moment.
I can't imagine not being excited about xmas.
5 years ago I had a huge cancer op on my 60th birthday so had tree decorated, cards written and pressies bought a few weeks before, I was discharged on 17th and was still excited about xmas even although I could only eat mashed potato, mushy peas and gravy and trifle for dessert. Think it was my best xmas, it meant more. Roll on many more.

I don't mind too much if they start having Christmas adverts on the TV now, but the thing that really gets me down is on Christmas morning, when the "Sale Starts 4:00am Boxing Day" adverts come on.
It's like they're wishing away Christmas and we've been looking forward to it for ages

Living the dream.
I absolutely hate Christmas, people putting themselves in debt just because little Jimmy/Suzie has to have hundreds of £'s spent on them the keep up with the other kids. Adverts, adverts, adverts, all designed to part us from our hard earned, Boxing Day sales starting mid December. Read the effin title, it say Boxing Day!!!
Bah Humbug indeed.
Even my dog George hates Christmas

I love the adverts, especially the coca cola one, holidays are coming :D
We don't buy presents, no need no kids, so it's fairly light time, tree and drinking & food, what's not to like :)
Ps edit we do buy for the dogs :)
Just need to find a very small tree for the van this year, first Xmas in the van :)

The Lidl advert is out already, entitled The Lidl School of Christmas. The much awaited John Lewis ad' is launched on Nov 6th at 8am. (Yeah yeah, I need to get out more!)

The ad's music has already been leaked? Apparently it's 'Half the World Away' by Oasis. Hope it's as good as last year's penguins.

LOVE CHRISTMAS.

We are off to our place in Florida again for Christmas. Not because I do all the horrendous theme park stuff etc at Christmas.

We can go there - I don't have to cook for a dozen people getting stressed in the process. Steak and lobster tail on the BBQ for Christmas dinner then off to the Cinema (which is usually jam packed). Boxing day on the beach last year.

Even though it is the US it is quite subdued and pleasant away from the theme parks.

We could rent the house out like we do the rest of the year and for a lot more but I like the relax. Plus as both our companies shut down over Christmas we get 3 weeks away for only 8 days annual leave!

Flights were only £400 each too! It does mean I have to do all the shopping early though - gift vouchers all round then!

On and off for many years.
I left in a very confused state of mind:D

That state of mind is quite normal for me, no one would notice any difference.

We only really shop for the Grandchildren, everyone else gets token pressies or cash. I do make cards for close family though and if it is time and thought that count then they are very blessed :)

Having had a number of family and friends die at Christmas puts a real damper on it and I wouldn't bother too much if it was just me - but because of the family I do make some effort. Not sure what the plans are for this year.

Wife's birthday on the 19th, can be tricky deciding what to get and what to do, and then sit down trying to even it out. Quite hard for people who have birthdays around Xmas to make it feel special, it gets lost in amongst the Xmas festivities. This is also the first year the kids will be visitors for Xmas as no longer living at home, so going to feel really strange.
