:Eeek:Hi can anyone tell me if tail boards are legal in France & Spain? I read somewhere that if bikes on bike racks obscure the lights they are illegal but it didn't say anything about using a tail board. Thank you

If you mean a proper lighting board which also displays your licence plate, yes they are legal

Anything that does obscure your lights would be illegal in the UK if they obscure your lights

Yes, and a small lighting board is also not legal. The lighting board sidelights need to be within a given maximum dimension of the sides of the vehicle which means a very long board for a MH.

It is also a legal requirement in France to place a checker board (red and white) on the cycles carried on the back of the MH .... many don't .... but them's the rules .... 90 euros if you find an unhappy Gendarme

since 2006 ( I think ! )
I always stick a red and white board on the back of whatever I happen to have loaded, just as a precaution..
It is a Fiamma one, and I have never had an issue with it in any country ( even Italy )
I did have to attach a 'LONG VEHICLE' board on the trailer when I took the Smarty down on a trailer behind the Chieftain aas it was over 40ft long in total.. And yep, even THAT had one of the red and white marker boards on it !
