Went to fill up yesterday..
Local Harvester had run out ( DOH !! ) and BP had pulled the pump out last week.
I was hoping we would escape the BP carnage but it seems not..

Harvester has LPG today so am gonna nip off and fill the tanks before they run out again !!

Our local BP station Sholing Southampton has had a out of order label on the LPG pump for about 4 months, when I asked if it was going to be repaired they said no removed.

this is not good news..

LPG powered vehicles are on the wane.. they will not keep LPG fuel if the demand doesn't cover the running cost..

when the 'big boys' take them out, I fear the writing is on the wall for refillable bottles .

We normally buy our LPG from a local independent but the machine was out of order when we came back from Lincoln on 28th September. We drove past in the car this morning and it is still out of order so hopefully it is only temporary and not permanent. We do have alternatives though, including a Shell garage a couple of miles away.

Just checked and they ( BP ) are not only pulling them here in the UK but world wide

Shell ( which I thought was under the same corporate umbrella ? ) has no intention to remove pumps, and the few independents I know are merely rubbing their metaphorical hands with glee.

Huh thought it was me! Just come off Lady Margarets at Chirk and couldn't see the pump at the BP just there, ended up driving down the A5 a touch to the Shell station.

There is a massive market for LPG for the central heating market so there will always be people like Countrywide Farmers who will be able to supply. The major problem I guess will be the distance between available fill points.

well I suppose their demand would go up if a major supplier like BP pull out!:)

Was hoping it doesn't spread down here our nearest is a BP, but there are a couple of Shell garages within 10 miles.

I use our local domestic LPG supplier (Budget Gas) who supply to outlying domestic properties where main line gas is not available, their base which is about 1.5 miles from our workshop has an Autogas LPG pump and they will charge the correct VAT rate for domestic fuel as opposed to road fuel. I'm reasonably confident (although I haven't checked) that most rural locations will have a similar supplier so I'd suggest you give BP, Shell, Morrisons et al a sidestep and seek out your nearest bulk gas supplier.

I've found filllpg a good app.
Highwayman recommended it.
Free on the app store

Just had a quick search but can't find "filllpg". Got "Find lpg" - could that be the one? Downloaded it and it seems decent.

Steve :)
