What would Funsters recommend as a method of keeping leather clean. I have cream coloured leather seating in my new Burstner and would like to stop it from looking grubby. Something to give it a wipe over with at the end of every trip. I'm not sure what's in some of these proprietry leather cleaners and whether they can be used on a regular basis rather than as a once a year cleanup. I also have just installed cream leather seats in my classic MG so same goes for that.

Furniture clinic do good stuff. You can buy in a kit off tinternet. It includes cleaner and protector. I do our seats quite regularly. The worse offender is jeans and dark clothing as you get dye transfer which is irreversible so best to avoid in the first place. Don't use baby wipes for quick cleans as they dry up the leather. No quick fix, do it properly or pay the price later.

We were advised to use Johnsons Baby Wipes on our leather after it was re-upholstered by CareAvan. They work a treat!

Don't use baby wipes.... How on earth people can rub those things over a nippers face I have no idea.

The main thing with leather is to use only very mild products.. Truthfully I know little about it despite attending a very long seminar on the subject many years ago..
Dr Leather wipes are good and that's what I use on the leather seats in my car..

Not my specialist subject I'm afraid...

Can't remember ;)
Hi I have always used a mild mix of Johnsons baby shampoo/warm water to remove marks and a couple of times a year given a good food /feed cream made by FRAYLING leather food -apply cream generously and leave to soak in for a couple of days before rubbing in well with a fibre type cloth

We clean with griptone leather cleaner and protect with either griptone protector or autoglym leather balm. Cream leather in Hymer and Land Rover, stone leather in Mrs Wags MX5 keeps it clean and smells like new leather.

We also have a Hymer with cream leather and are very satisfied with Autoglym cleaner.

Second Alan & Lorens post re. dark clothing especially jeans, transfer of dye is gradual but once it's on, it's impossible to remove.

Newbie, but over 10 years in a campervan
The inside of a banana skin works well for leather, followed by a damp cloth if you need to try and clean (potassium levels are high in a banana as they are in shoe polish). This works well for leather shoes and boots - I have personally used and tried it.

Yes that's good for CLEANING, but leather needs FEEDING too so a propriety leather cream should be applied once or twice a year to keep the leather supple. This also stops it drying out and cracking.

a better way of cleaning leather seats is to use those new small foam pads you can buy. using a bit of water to lubricate the surface they lift all the dirt off using no chemicals whatsoever. once your seat is clean you can apply a leather cream protector of your choice..

Do you mean the things like flash magic eraser pads? I use them for all sorts of things in the house but never thought of the leather, great idea.

yes - we use them all the time, they get all the crap off without damaging the leather and best of all no chemicals. just wipe a leather cream over after to finish it off. i've used them on Bentleys.. like previous have said, denim and dark trousers are the worst offenders..

No No No do not use magic sponges on leather, come to that don't use on anything on your van other than hard plastics. Magic sponges are very abrasive and will wreck the leather. As previous postings very mild soap or detergent, dry then feed.
