The BBC are reporting floods in south east France. Thirteen reported killed. Hope no funsters involved.

Yup, it's bad. My sister lives in Antibes and they abandoned the house when it got waist deep.

They are all ok, which is the main thing, but everything is trashed.

Some pictures they sent this morning shows water has receded from the street but of course it will take ages to dry out. Cars in the picture have been moved quite a quite a distance..

Like the OP, hope all funsters are ok

Just spoken to bro in law. They left the house when it was waist deep but in the garden the water was up to my sisters neck (she,s 5ft 4) and they literally swam/ fled for thier lives.

Water in the house ended up deeper than the kitchen counter tops and picture attached was in the bathroom ..

Apparently there are still a lot of people missing, thoughts are with all those affected

Sorry folks, link is incorrect - 2014 floods not 2015 and too late to edit. Thanks to Bacchus for pointing that out(y)

I used PM so that you could do a sneaky edit

This is a link to a report on the flooding in France http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-34438063

Dreadful business, and really feel for the people involved. I was there just four weeks ago thinking what a paradise the place is, but certainly now a paradise lost for some familes :(

Sorry Bacchus I was too late in picking up your PM to sneakily edit the post. But thanks once again. I hate to post incorrect information.

A lot of people I know , including relatives have lost mobile homes and cars . the river Brague tends to flood when there has been rain in the mountains and rises quite slowly and you can evacuate safely . this was different , the rain was biblical , which caused people to just take cover ( some in tunnels or underground car parks ) . then the river burst its banks and washed through the campsite causing devastation . it happened that quickly people climbed onto caravan and building rooves waiting to be rescued .
I hope all involved get sorted out quickly .
