My god they are expensive for a Merc, I just did a search to see if I could do better, and I can't!

Barrie, have you had to replace the EGR valve because of high mileage or lack of use or is it a known design fault?

Hi, what age is your Motorhome Barrie? I have a 2006 model which was the new model then but still uses the 2148cc 4cylinder engine & its forever going into limp mode. A real shame because other than this issue its a beautiful vehicle to own & drive!

Unscrew the wastegate valve a turn or two to reduce turbo pressure.

bin it & blank it...........................
That's what I've done having seen a few posts on here particularly the very descriptive post by techno100. I no longer have to worry about EGR failing or tripping into limp mode.

VW & Merc are made in the same factory
they have high tolerances in the turbo system such that they are so close that one signal can overlap another hence on full boost the ECU can receive a signal for overboost & shut down i.e go into limp mode.
I looked this up on so many occasions having run a VW club & the cure was to lower the wastegate pressure setting i.e unscrew it a turn or two..
Its comon on VW T5's & later LT's those with the PD (Pump Deuse) Engines.
T4's r fine & I maxed mine out 153.3BHP 284.4NM Torque from a 88BHP engine. its all the sensors that are a pain...................

I have a Sprinter and luckily never gone into Limp mode except when I forget to release the magnetic braking and accelerate. Where is the "Wastgate Valve"
