Last week we took our Starfire out for it's first run of the year and all went well, though it took a few turns of the engine before it started when we set of back home.

However, now it won't start at all - it turns over well but does not fire. We are setting off for our first tour in Europe in 2 weeks and am somewhat anxious. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is it the fuel filter, best of luck anyway.

some thoughts soapy..
I am guessing the older TD not an Hdi

glow plugs may not be glowing.. various ways to test.. make sure the main 12V feed to one of the plugs (cylinder3) is getting 12 V on igntion..

most glowplug tests need the 12V feed removed and the bridgeing wire to each plug removed, to isolate the plugs.. its a tricky little job and blu tac and magnets are good friends..

you could remove one of the easier access plugs, and earth it's body and turn on ignition, it should get red pretty quickly..

there is a test for all 4, using a multimeter on the glowplug feedwire 'post', and the other meter wire to earth.. although I have forgotten it.. continuity is one option.. if theres none a plug is dead..

a relay drives the plugs, in a black box on side of engine bay.. if none are getting power that may be at fault..

prime the fuel with the bulb too..

fit a clear tube from the fuel filter housing to the fuel pump to show fuel, and hopefully lack of airbubbles..

remove fuel pipe from fuel pump, that runs back to tank, wipe dry and blow.. it will be tough but you should be able to blow back to tank :)

immobiliser problem?

rushing for a peugeot MOT
