I have two of the larger Yale safes and you get 2 override keys. The key hole is behind the Yale fob on the door which just twists to one side. Had both mine 6 years and never had to change the batteries (perhaps it's about time I did). Of course the safest place for the keys is in the safe. But that would be silly.

My six year old grandson told his mum a couple of weeks ago he wants a safe for Christmas. Not sure what he wants to keep in it. This would be perfect for him. Thanks.

I heard they were easy to open so I never put the batteries in mine and just use the key!

I saw that and ending up getting one with a key just to be on the safe side - so to speak. Just for peace of mind.

Since 2012 but longer in my dreams
Don't buy one !
I had one and heard the scare stories ,after 10 mins watching youtube videos I could open it every time with a quick blow using anything from my fist to a lighter ,even a potato !
I've since bought a key only one and can sleep more safely..

Quick example
