Figs figs every where. Why is nature so wasteful our fig tree just keeps on producing and there is a limit to how many one can eat or process ..... wasps are having a field day ... lust say though the smell is divine as the figs slowly go over ripe

Since 2005 this time
Cut them in half and dry them
OR!
Preserves for the winter?

Fig Jelly

Use sound, slightly under ripe fruit, which is not mushy. Wash and dry, remove stems, leaves and any bruised parts.
In a large saucepan cook fruit and water, if necessary over low heat until fruit is very soft.
Suspend jelly bag over a large bowl, pour fruit into jelly bag, allow juice to drip slowly. DO NOT squeeze, stir or shake bag or the jelly will be cloudy.
Weigh juice, then weigh same amount of sugar.
In a large saucepan, warm juice, add sugar. Cook over a low heat until the sugar dissolves. Stir occasionally.
Increase heat. Boil rapidly until jelly reaches 105c (221f) Remove from heat, remove scum, Ladle hot jelly into hot jars, cover!
Store in a cupboard for 3 weeks before using.
Jam will last for several years in unopened jars, (we have just finished crab apple jelly made in 2011)

This recipe can be used for any fruit! cept citrus!
Jelly bag can just be a square of muslin suspended over a bowl.
Temparture though (105c) is crucial!

Weight of fruit isn't crucial because you add the same weight of sugar to the weight of the juice, 500gms of juice, =500gms of sugar, 1 tonne of juice=1 tonne of sugar,

This is a very simple recipe, idiot proof even, even a cornishman can do it:rolleyes:

Think yourself lucky that it is wasp's. They don't get a look in at ours for flies, 10's of 000's of them.

Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
Am I missing something here?
What have lots of figs got to do with Motorhome Detailing?
Other than possibly getting rid of the stains when they bounce off the bodywork.
