hi can any one tell me how these compare with the Status omni?

Omni directional is like looking 360 degrees with the naked eye and a few mirrors. Everything you see is small and there are many distracting images.

Proper directional is like using a good telescope. Big image and no distractions.

Have to agree with all posts so far. An omni directional antenna is almost always unity gain but a directional one will have some gain (They can be designed tohave quite a lot of gain) and as mentioned above they are tuned to a specific bandwidth thereby eliminationg a lot of noise.
