We're on our way up France a few hours south of Metz on our way up to the Düsseldorf show.
We thought we might stop somewhere in Luxembourg before going into Germany but we don't know anything about the place
So can anyone recommend somewhere to stop ?
Also the only thing I do know is that fuel is meant to be cheap is there anything else worth buying ?

Many thanks in advance

We have stayed there many times, and I can confirm that the fuel is very cheap there, as are fags and booze.
The country is quite mountainous, and a lot of the roads are narrow and twisty. Because of the mountains, sat navs tend not to work very well, and get a poor signal, have maps as a backup. Perhaps more worrying, lots of the forest roads have trees that lean in towards the road, so you have to be careful about getting too close to the edge in a tall vehicle.
That said it is a very picturesque country, and the locals are very friendly. We usually stop here: http://www.birkelt.com/

the city itself is well worth a day sightseeing.
Last time we were there we bumped into Prince Guillaume and his then bride to be just before their wedding. They were on a walkabout and being followed by a TV crew. Gwen just started talking to them and ended up being interviewed by the TV crew afterwards to see what had been said.

We stopped last year to visit Luxembourg city. Well worth a visit. We stayed at acsi site: Bon Accueil at Alzingen. It is a beautiful site. Close to the city. Bus stop outside or easy cycle path along river to City Centre or a good walk. Well worth having a couple of days!
Cheers

We stayed at camping gritt in indeldorf. It is a half hour train ride into Luxembourg city, but you only pay 4 euros for an all day bus and train pass. It was a lovely site on the banks of the river.

just drove back from Luxemburg on Tuesday diesel 1.03 euros a litre, fantastic roads and campsites very reasonable, stayed at Camping Martbush at Berdorf its right on the mullerthol trail, cost 10 euros a night. The little swiss area of Luxemburg is amazing place for mountain bikers and walkers. The rock formations just behind the campsite are a must see.

We also stayed at this site for a couple of days earlier this year. Agree it's a good site.

Used the bus into the city centre - a fairly long walk I would have thought, I certainly wouldn't have wanted to do it!

Many thanks for all your replays going to check them out now !
Only got limited wifi left so really appreciate this.
One other question is
Are the supermarkets closed on a Sunday as they are in France ?
And what supermarkets are there to go to as if spirits are cheap we will have to go
