I bought a battery master from Jim's shop last week (great fast service :) ) and I'm hoping to fit it myself! The instructions are clear enough but I need help finding the split charge relay. I have a Kanus Van ti on a Fiat ducato x250.

I've taken a picture of a fuse box in the engine bay

Also I've taken pictures of my habitation electrics

Anyone know where to find my split charge relay? Just going to pick up the mh bring it up to the house

Many Thanks :)

I believe you have been holding it to take a photo. The Ryder TF1170-3 Super Smart box looks to be the 'electronic split charge relay'. Others who are more expert than me will no doubt either confim this or say that I am an idiot :cautious:

The thick cable connected to the Power In terminal is power from the starter battery. The wiring diagram for the smart relay is probably available online if you Google Ryder TF1170-3.

Hope this helps.

Being a German van it is probably built into the charger unit. I don't recognise your charger unit what make is it?
For example Elektroblocks have their own built in BtoB type circuitry and do not require an external one.

What your seeing is the distribution/fuse, board control (calira vertellerbox vb05) which originally was paired with calira lg616-ds/iu charger which would charge the starter battery from hookup but within the first couple of weeks of picking up the van the charger packed in and the dealer replaced it with a Sargent PX-300 which seems like it doesn't charge the starter battery from hookup? My inexperience at the time didn't question whether or not it was a good replacement (still don't know), I think now I would have maybe got it repaired?

As I've got a solar panel the battery master hopefully (with good reviews) will keep my starter battery it top condition :)

Yep, thats the split charge relay but its only half wired.
To provide a full 30 amps safely it needs 2 x 44/.08 wires, one each to terminals +12v or a 30amp wire split between the two +12v terminals.
I suspect the individual relays cant cope with 30amps on their own so the load is split between two relays.

Switched terminal A (2) is for your leisure battery
Switched terminal B (6) is for your fridge when the engine is running
Unswitched terminal (4) is a direct feed whether the engine is running or not....mostly not used but if it is, its to power a caravans 12v system when hooked to the tow cars 12 S socket with engine off.

The numbers on the output terminals refer to the pin numbers in a 12S caravan plug.

Hi pappajohn

So if I'm reading your post correctly! I need to take the main starter battery supply split that with some sort of connector to give me 2 (44/.08) wires to populate the 2 +12v imputs?

Thanks I'll definitely do that if it would be safer :) the fridge must be coming from the fuse board?

Eventually I'd like to learn what all the electrics are doing ;)
