just a quick one..... Could be a silly question ..?
I take it that you can book a single ticket outward to Dunkirk and then when you finished mooching about France for say 3-4 weeks you simply book a ticket back to Calais...?
Many thanks in advance..

Actually you could do that. If you had booked one way (We always do this) then what ferry you book for home is up to you so you could return via Calais if the crossing suits.

You can book to have a bit of leeway ie three days either way of sail back day times. Not too expensive, probably cheaper than two single bookings. (y)

We only booked one way once-due to changes in circumstances we needed to come back on a Bank holiday-it cost us £120 one way.
Now we book a return and pay ,I think, £10 to change date.

Just do not turn up. Give which ever ferry you decide on a ring a couple of days before you need to travel,,we never book a return. BUSBY.

Had to change by booking with DFDS, they didn't charge me the £20 admin fee and put me on a much more expensive crossing.

You were lucky,,,BUSBY. They never used to charge when it was Norfolk Line.

Since I am never sure from which direction we will approach the channel on return, and thus which would be the most convenient port, we never book a return until a couple of days before. As has been said, booking for the same day travel they really rip you off, but assuming travelling off peak have never had problems booking a place, and you can still choose the best price, it does not seem any dearer, and you don't get that annoying £20 or so booking fee for changing the booking.
