We had an issue with our MH 2 weeks ago, meant we had to leave it at the workshop, we emptied the fridge and turned it off completely, but we have no option to 'vent' the fridge when closed so left it closed up and turned off

It has just been delivered back I am embarrassed and mortified in equal measures about the amount of mould inside the fridge in less than 2 weeks

Cleaned up now, lemons abandoned, @Mousy can you please bring reinforcements :) G + T is not the same without (y)

Will waste gas next time, but hopefully it will not be going back in for a good while yet :)

BTW @Mousy got 3L Tanqueray and loads of slim line tonic, just need the citrus

Fear not young David I've got lemons and limes.

Next time you must leave a folded t towel over the fridge door near the hinge side, it can't be pushed shut by mistake then.

See you tomorrow.

If you read your fridge manual you will find that you can fasten the doors ajar

excuse me Mr Techno, do you know my fridge that well that you can safely say that with complete confidence? :):)

I know I probably could have, but it so much easier to blame the machine :LOL:

Hi , quite a few of the fridges have a catch which allows you to lock the fridge door with it slightly ajar for ventilation,

still not sure mine has such luxury, but will read my manual over weekend, presuming Paul @haganap hasn't distracted me with alcohol (y)(y)

My wife has bought some special things that keep a fridge door open when the van is left laid up.

But the towel over the door sounds the cheaper ( and better) option.

David, we'll get Martin to stick his head in your fridge this weekend. His technical knowledge is only slightly better than yours, but he knows what a fridge catch looks like:rofl:

Just for your information Dawn, the catch is not inside the fridge, even I know that :LOL::LOL:

But you and Martin are always welcome, just don't forget the lemons (y)

Didn't you sell the Dometic 3 Way RMD 8555 to Terry?
What did you replace it with?

we found that we actually had a full tower which includes the oven, so the fridge I bought was useless as a replacement. @Terry now has the incorrect purchase in his new PVC :)

but Terry mended our broken fridge door so never needed a new one anyway :LOL:

If yours is push button door release? it is in the later 8000 series
If the central door locking catch? it is in the earlier 7000 series and still has a door ajar locking position (y)

I'm with Andy as far as I am aware there has never been a Dometic, Thetford or Electrolux leisure vehicle fridge made without a catch for keeping the door in a vented position.

the world is full of folk who 'think' they know, will be at Wrenbury this weekend, happy to be proved wrong :D

I am not sure you will not want to hear this, but we have the central catch, still don't think I have a vent option, but open to be proven wrong :)

That fridge catch is a piece of crap, Val's always jamming ours up. I find if you open the freezer door so you can see to line up the "ajar" cut out on the fridge door, it makes using it a lot easier.

The doors on our Electrolux AES fridge/freezer, cannot be locked or retained in the "door ajar" position, whilst travelling, ie, vehicle recovery, without the use of a rubber bungy or elastic band.............as pointed out above. Believe me, I am talking from unfortunate experiences. :(

Regards,

Jock. :)
