There are still lots of Talbots around but at that price I would have thought you could buy a Hymer of similar age. I may be biased but I would look for a Hymer :D

Living the dream.
It may well suit you very well but it seems like a lot of money, plus please remember ' buyer beware'. Nothing wrong with Talbot but it is ' of an age ' so look out for rust and damp.
Good hunting (y)

two problems....
the talbot is getting so old that parts are hard to find and they rust a lot
the kontiki at that time was bloody awful and virtually all leaked causing rot

oh and thirdly way over priced

Can't agree with your first two points. We have a 1994 Talbot and, although it has had a small amount of rust damage around the windscreen, the wheel arches and at the bottom of the passenger door, we did not see that as a major problem and all areas were easily repaired (the first two by experts and the wheel arches by me).

With regard to spares, if you know where to look, they are no more difficult to find than any other make.

The Kontiki could be over-priced but if it's been well looked after and a service history is available then it may be worth around the asking price. However, as others have said, damp may be a problem.

We have had our Talbot for five years (we are its 3rd owners) and we are very happy with it. There were some problems when we first bought it and we had to have them attended to but that's to be expected with an older vehicle.

I really like the looks of the old Talbot kontikis, funky!
at 20+ years old, less funky more mouldy in my experience. even when brand new they leaked like sieves. Leaky Kontiki wasn't a name earned lightly

Thanks again for the great response you've all been a great help gonna take a look as its close by to my work but more for getting the feel of what I'm looking for than to buy it .was always planning on buying around October, November time as my thinking is there will be less people buying in the winter so might get a bargain
