Is the ignition button firing but not igniting the gas jet?

Nice dog by the way! :)

Its a photo of him as a pup... he's 3 1/2 now and full of fun and energy. They're fantastic dogs aren't they?

Sorry I can't help with the ignition - I had my burner not lighting which turned out to need a bit of a wipe under the gas jet. No doubt someone will be able to get your ignition firing :)

I had the same problem in France a couple of months ago and resorted to a cigarette lighter. I waited until I got home to dismantle the cooker. Among the many things it could be I suspected either switch or the ignitor unit. After a couple of fruitless hours trying to release heat welded screws and nuts I took the easy route and bought a hand held igniter. This will suffice until the winter when I'll have more time. Not the answer you're looking for but probably a good addition to your kitchen utensils drawer until you can get the van into a dealer/repairer.

We have a similar problem with our smev oven intermittently. When SMBO washes the hob and then tries to light the it when it is still wet the fuse supplying the oven and kitchen lights blows. Let it dry out and change the fuse and all is well until the next time she forgets.

I assume its something to do with water shorting the sparker.

Getting the igniter electrodes wet will not blow a fuse (although it will stop them sparking). If a fuse has blown something else is causing it.

most motorhome cookers have the ignition unit at the back, to get to it you will need to move the cooker out of position, does the button make a slight click when pressed? try pulling the knob off and pressing the stem, you may be able to hear a slight click, if you do then the button is OK. Now if you want to go deeper and you have a multimeter ,shut off the gas and electricity then you must unscrew the cooker and pull it out a bit, not too far as the gas and wires will be connected if you are lucky you will see the ignition unit on the back of the cooker. As long as you can get to the unit check for 12v supply (turn it back on for the test but not the 240v if you have it) then check if 12v is coming back on the wire from the ignition button. If no power getting back to the unit, the button is faulty. If there is 12v coming back and no spark then the ignition unit is faulty.

If you do not have a multimeter, the you are probably not competent to do this! buy a bbq lighter and get the dealer to check it when you are home.

Good luck

Thanks everyone. I'm guessing it must have got wet. I moved location and when I arrived it started working again. If it ever does it again I will know to wait a while. :)

Long time
Mine sometimes won't work, after a clean out of the 'rings' it usually behaves. I also have a sparker in the drawer for emergencies!
