It seems to me that Kodi should be of interest to folk here as it can be run on most media players.
Free films, good access to all your media.

Ive been playing with it this weekend and I'm pretty sure with the right addons and a decent skin it would be great for a motorhome media centre. Im mgoing to put it on a windows 7 netbox when I get chance.

Any views? Hints? Preferred add ons, skins, IPTV urls etc.

This site has some good info,

http://www.tvaddons.ag

I've been working with IPTV on a Mag 254 and currently trialing. Working well but eventually it will be subscription.

Whatever you use it will need a lot of bandwidth, so probably not suitable for a Motorhome. Each half hour of TV streaming is around 1gb.

Ive already found that, and downloaded the fusion installer.
My biggest issue is that certain skins seem to cause certain addons to mess up. I find one that I think fits what I want then I discover iplayer or another addon I want stops running.

I agree Kodi can be unstable, though I think it's more stable on a dedicated Smart Box. The Linux based boxes seem to be the best.
The Mag boxes running dedicated IPTV is the way the streaming TV seems to be going.
I have been using my Mag box in Spain and the UK with the advantage of Sky Sports, BT Sports and masses of other foreign Sports channels, as well as all the USA / UK channels, and of course the Film streams in HD.
It does mean you really need unlimited Bandwidth which is OK in the UK but less easy in Spain unless you have a dedicated landline.
I had a 4G sim with unlimited bandwith while over there last winter, but at 60 euros a month it isn't cheap.

I have kodi on a Chinese tablet phone, works great in France, mainly through the Phoenix add on get football but mostly use it for "best of British" TV , my mate in Portugal has one of the set top boxes and doesn't use anything else for his TV.

Kodi has been highly erratic with me and sometimes gets stopped in the middle of games...

I found it hugely complicated to get what I wanted streamed...

Then I found Mobdro...

(Only for Android at the moment.)

What sort of Bandwidth do you have?

Is it unlimited?

Yes.

I have a roll over contract (month's notice to cancel) in Portugal with NOS.

It is genuinely unlimited, no throttling, and where there is good coverage (almost everywhere I go) it is easily fast enough for me... I have had content downloading at 2 mbs.

I use around 200 to 250 gigabytes a month and it costs me €30.99.

That sounds pretty good, though 2mbs download speed, is close to the minimum required for streaming.

It's a shame there appears to be no company in Spain offering this type of contract.

I was using Movistar 4G with speeds averaging 25mbs download speed, but a tad expensive @60Euros a month plus a 50Euros reconnection fee.
