We have a Fiamma ladder on the rear of our M/H and although it folds up in half, with the tow bar rear bumper girder, it is easy to grab hold of and haul oneself onto.

We will be returning via Calais in July, and wondered what security tips anyone may have to stop people climbing onto the ladder and subsequently the roof.

a)Thought about wrapping it in industrial cling film.
b)Wrapping barbed wire round it, but that would scratch it.
c)Fixing wood plank to it.
d) Removal is not an option.

Thanks
Jim

Fix a plank to it.
If you measure the width and length you'd be able to get a piece of marine plywood cut to size - you could even paint it to match your ladder. Drill some holes and fix with heavy duty cable ties.
Or you could drill a bigger hole and fix with a large loop padlock.
At least it wouldn't look out of place.
If they're breaking the seals on truck trailers, they're easily going to get past cling film and why run the risk of scratching your pride n joy with barbed wire?

If they do get up there, they won't be up there long. I'm sure you will be poking your head through the roof vent to check!

You could ignore the ladder and stick a load of broken glass to the roof with Silkaflex. That way if they do get up there they won't want to stay there.

Wire it up to 240v converter..
(y) My first thought. Or , stop just before getting to Calais & run superglue down both sides of ladder.. You'll then be able to get out & beat him at your leisure.:)
Last defence I've told the dog he'll have o go up there with the machine gun.
